2023-2024 teams/players to watch

They have the Yanders Law-Austin Peay pipeline going on it sounds like. Peay is also where Anton Brookshire and Isaac Haney are at now, presumably because the old MSU coach Corey Gipson is the new coach there.

So too is Jonathan Dunn, who moved from the St Louis area to Rogersville his senior year and played/trained at Yanders

Just a quick search showed me that he’s a 5’8 PG that plays for Yanders Law or did, and I believe he’s verbal to Austin Peay? Could be wrong. That’s just according to the internet.

You’ll get a crack out of this, that article mentioned, “he attends Liberty High”, but mentioned him as “congrats to Gaines from West Plains” 🤣🤣🤣

That’s not verbatim, just for the record
HEll you never know these days! Sounds like a typical transfer kid LOL

I could be wrong but I thought I had read somewhere that kids in West plains, Dora and some other small school districts by West Plains have the option of attending any of those schools regardless of what district they actually live in.

But I don’t think Liberty was one of them

They do have the option, but I was just making the point of two in district D1 guards going elsewhere.
Liberty may be one. But I’ve never heard of anyone choosing to go to Liberty.
I know in 07-08 when Willow Boys made their QF run in basketball, they had 2 starters that were Junction Hill products. And one of them was their all state PG

The way that it works is that there are several K-8 schools around West Plains, including Richards, Fairview, Junction Hill, Howell Valley and Glenwood and maybe one more. The kids from those districts can then choose which high school to attend and their school district pays tuition to those high schools. Including West Plains, Willow Springs, Dora, Bakersfield and Koshkonong which may be all. Most kids go to whichever high school is most convenient based on where they live but not all. Haney went to Richards his older sisters chose to go to West Plains for high school he chose to go to Dora before the move to Kickapoo. Dora won a state baseball title in 2009 with one or two kids on the team that went to middle school in Dora the rest were rural school kids. I don't know the numbers now but 10 years ago about half of West Plains high school lived in the West Plains district and went to West Plains middle school and about half went to one of the K-8 schools. A few years ago West Plains started co-oping with the K-8 schools for middle school football which has helped their football.
