Do you sell tires to coaches who have unfortunate accidents?
So the cat is elusive? How fast was the cat? How high could it jump? Would it be interested in a scholarship to a private St. Louis High School?

You're right. These high school kids (99% of which won't ever get the opportunity to play this game again after high school) shouldn't get the opportunity to play another game if their team isn't "good."

Ive never sold tires but we did hold a brake pad fundraiser shortly after a few teachers/coaches got into car accidents due to faulty brakes.

Playoff/District Idea: Each class (maybe besides Class 5, I know the numbers are different in that class) is put into an 8 team district. You get nine regular season games, weeks 1 and 2 are non district while weeks 3 through 9 are district games. You are required to play every team in your district, along with whoever you want weeks 1 and 2. The top four teams in the eight team district qualify for the playoffs. District 1, Seed 1 will host District 2, Seed 4 in the first round and so forth.

Probably wouldn’t be voted in. Lots of conferences have more than one class in the them. Even those that have all the same class might not get assigned to the same district. My guess the majority of schools would not vote for that proposal

I've seen similar ideas but the biggest problem that comes to mind if that schools don't always conference within their classification and some schools bounce between classifications. I use the COC but I'm sure there are lot of other examples with C4-6... it's a great stable schedule with lots of good competition and relatively low travel. If all these schools had to realign based solely on classification breaks then they'd loose a lot of great local games and gain some longer travel to less desirable opponents.
agreed, I think the current system is pretty good. Plus i like to see rivalry games etc, and sometimes those teams aren't in same class.
I like the current system though I do think adding more postseason opportunities for teams to end on a win would help grow the sport
I just would like to see the playoff seeded like districts. Can we at least get that.
I would say final 8. Final 16 would be great but would create more travel for more teams, and MSHSAA will never go for it. Seed after districts (which are normally closer games, sometimes rivalry games for district championships) and in theory then have a chance to get the best state championship game. How many times do we see a blowout in state games because the two best teams already met in the playoffs?? This would obviously be if we kept the current system.
Seems good to me. Some will complain of travel but there is already a decent amount of travel going on sometimes even within districts. Just depends on how many situations end up like Hannibal at Carl Junction, followed by Hannibal at West Plains. Wouldn't really know until we saw it in action and every year would be different.
Yes I agree with that. I would guess if you ask the schools 99% would say we will travel all over the state if it means the best 2 teams are in the championship.

Perfect system! Congrats to Hannibal on making it to their first state title game! After all these years of getting screwed by the system.
Interesting, under that scenario we probably would have seen yet another Webb City appearance, probably the Jackson/Webb game everyone had been hoping for all season. But not actually the two best teams in class 5 because seeding isn't perfect.
Helias to Class 5 you think?
if that was to happen, West Plains would without a question have to be the favorites for Class 4 with them bring back something like 17 starters when you factor in both sides of the ball.
West Plains was my favorite for this year anyways, hell they were right there with Helias in a dogfight last year as it was.
After I posted that, I got to thinking, St Mary’s will probably have something to say about that, assuming that they are class 4 as well.
don't think St mary's be in class 4 this coming year but possibly in 2022.
My top 5 favorites for class 4 this coming year
1. MICDS
2.West Plains
3 Hannibal
4 Smithville
5. Hazelwood East
MICDS returns most of their athletes, but lost most of their linemen. I wouldn't put them at 1. If anything 4 or 5. Also, watch out for Hillsboro since they have a solid junior class and return almost everybody.
I am pretty sure MICDS had 3 lineman that signed to play D3 ball (2 all state, all 3 were all district), and all were huge, a TE that is going to D1 Ohio University (who I would argue was the best TE in the state) and a WR that is going to play D1 lacrosse at Georgetown. Those kids will be hard to replace. That being said, they have their QB, 2 RBs and 2 legit WR. Line is going to be their biggest issue, also defense will be an issue for them as well. They also are playing Chaminade, SLUH and Lutheran North, and a what i think will be a good JBS squad, so they will be battle tested when its time to go to the playoffs.
Hazelwood East will not be top 4 in their conference, let alone Class 4.
Yeah having talked to a couple people close to the program they will have a battle finding quality linemen. They got the athletes, especially for a Class 4 school they're fine there.
Parkway North is a better shout than Hazelwood East. Still a lot of work to be done, but year three under Karl Odenwald, they're heading in the right direction.
PN is young, but that's not a terrible thing. I have heard they have some good freshman coming in, but when i look at them on twitter, I am not terribly impressed with the rising Freshman they have
Agreed, I know this is 4-6 but I think, Lutheran ST Charles is going to be a problem this year. Saw them this weekend. Looked really good. CBC is loaded as well, and looked very crisp. I am not sure about Lutheran North, looked good but disorganized, but its early and you never know who is missing at those camps.
According to the North coaches and fans on social media. They "won the scrimmages" I guess it was their summer state game.
I agree on Lutheran SC. They kinda embarrassed/exposed MICDS' line. They should have a quality run game with Arlen and Ayden Harris plus Rhod Gibson to go with their offensive line of Jaydon Wannstedt, Austin Rustemeyer, Damon Dunlap, and Talan Chandler. Solid depth in that area.
Oh for sure. I was there and they unloaded their sideline whenever their JV scored.
That O-line is going to be very solid, but again its June, so maybe others catch up, but i am definitely going to make it to a couple of their games
Anybody that goes into those scrimmages and isn't working on things that need to be improved or seeing where kids fit and is worried about "winning" the scrimmage is going to have a not great fall when it really matters.
