when mshsaa change it to 9-11 student count in 2018. West plains was at 754 in 2018. They grew over 140 students in the past 2 years
That will change. West Plains enrollment fluctuates just like any other school. This is the highest I’ve seen in awhile. Also factor in that their enrollment depends largely upon which high school their 6 feeder rural schools decide to go to. They have many options.

just a prediction. probably will look a little different depends on how some school's enrollment numbers drop or gain students. All we know for the 2021 season that Vianney in Class 6, Chaminade and Helias in Class 5 and MICDS and John Burroughs in Class 4

Well that should cut down on the people making excuses about losing to private schools.

The only team I know will drop to Class 5 that is listed in 6, is Holt. The Wentzville School District is adding another high school starting next fall called "North Point" which will only have freshman and sophomores their first year. This will be the fourth high school in the district, Holt, Timberland, Liberty and now North Point. Of the three schools that have 9-12 currently, Holt is taking the biggest hit as quiet a few of their incoming freshman/current freshman will be heading over to North Point.

They'll struggle in their new conference.
Smith-Cotton would struggle in the Tri-County Conference to be honest. They are kind of darn if you do, darn if you don't. Playing the JC and Columbia schools they are same size they struggle. When they play down and win, they get chastised.

North Point will just have Freshman and Sophomores in their high school next year. They will not have a varsity team next season, so they won't be in a class. Very similar to what Capital City High School did when they split off from Jefferson City.

nope they're are start varsity football this year. they have 3 classes not 2

They only plan on having a freshman/JV team for the most part next year. Skip to August/September to see games. They have one varsity football game scheduled in mid October against Affton... have no idea how having a varsity team for this upcoming season will work.
They'll have a full varsity schedule going into the 2022 fall season when the schedules in Missouri get made every two years.
To answer your original question though, I am assuming that they will be Class 4 or 5. Liberty has bounced in between 4 and 5 the past couple years, Timberland has consistently been 5 and Holt has been 6 for a while.

IMO, if I am the AD there at SC, I would go to an iindependent and schedule games for each sport to be able to compete with. Winning brings more kids out. You do not have to play down, just pick teams you can compete with. Just my opinion though.

Pretty sound thought I think. They will always struggle in that conference which will only retard the possibility of developing a program in most sports. What they need more than anything right now is SUCCESS or the CHANCE FOR SUCCESS (be competitive most of the time).

Smith-cotton was 9-1 in 2017. As a class 5 school they played class 2, 3 and 4 schools in the regular season. They were one-and-done in the playoffs. They have to travel quite a bit to play class 5 schools.

Carthage was in a district with S-C, Belton, and a few others for a couple years. Seemed like S-C was the top seed in the district tournament by virtue of winning all or nearly all of their regular season games but would then be the first team eliminated. I am thinking this was prior to 2017 though?

You need those seasons to build up to the post season wins. This year they had a losing record and was done in the first round too. You have to have the players as well. Unless there are kids roaming the halls that do not play, they are struggling there as well. The problem is they just never seem to keep the same head coach to establish a great program for whatever reason.

I never knew much about them, just that they always looked like a tough district opponent but then we never ended up playing them because they'd get taken out early by a low seeded team. As I looked at their schedule it looked like mostly smaller schools. They are kind of like West Plains or Bolivar that are kind of in a weird unfortunate size and geography situation.

Sedalia is essentially the largest small town in the state. They have the size of a suburban school with the demographics of a rural country town. The best conference for Smith-Cotton would have been the MRVC East IMO. They should have added Smith-Cotton and Marshall instead of Clinton and Center.

Clinton and Center joined the MRVC West (large), not the MRVC East. In most ways, Clinton, Marshall, and SC are a wash. Doesn't appear there would be a huge improvement in travel distance for most schools. Center, however, adds quality competition in most sports.
Of course, if it was up to Oak Grove, Center would have been kept out of the conference. They were the only "no" vote if I remember correctly. And the Oak Grove BOE president had some interacisting reasons for his NO vote.

Duh brain fart on my part. Of course I meant the MRVC West.

Hannibal is the same with the Geography Situation. Hannibal plays most schools that are Class 3 or slightly in Class 4. They're 3 biggest schools closer to them are Troy 1hr and 2Min Holt Wentzville 1hr and 16 and Liberty ( Wentzville) 1hr and 20Min

All of Hannibal's conference opponents are Class 4....small Class 4. That conference definitely doesn't help Hannibal out as far as getting ready for better competition come playoff time. They have done a good job of scheduling bigger non-conference games though.

Southeast MO schools have the same issue. Not much anybody can do about location. The schools that want to play good competition will, and it will help them in the post season. The schools that don't want to, won't. (It's ok, they can still join in the time honored Missouri tradition of the "also rans" blaming private schools) Definitely understandable why a school like S-C would want to play weaker competition while they try to right the ship.

you guys need to schedule Lutheran North, no one in STL will play them outside of i think St Marys and MICDS. MICDS is in their conference, all the other conference schools backed out. I actually think a Hannibal vs LN game would be a good game.

i hope Hannibal schedule them next year. i think it be a great game. i would like to see Hannibal go independent just in football. they're fine in NCMC in other sports except football is Hannibal strongest Sport.

So where’s classes 1,2,3?
i'm going to start on 1,2,3 soon.

They're 3 things i need to know before i start on it

Where will Trinity and O'Fallon (Christian) Students go to?

How many teams have move to 8-man from 11-man this past 4 or 5 months?

Has any other Co-Op ended except for Van-Far/Community
