I think everyone is off base, including myself on how this will shake out. Not to mention everyone is assuming it will be done correctly anyhow. Who knows what will happen.
They are taking away the 1.35 mutiplier not the single gender multiplier, so to convert, just divide by 1.35. It is that simple. Then the success factor is applied after that. That is what is still unknown, but to figure out the enrollment is not.

If they in fact decide to even out classes 2-5 everything changes. Top 20 schools in 4A move up to 5A

Should just go back to five classes with 64 teams each and be done with it

This thread is proof that MSHSAA in a noble attempt to make everything as fair and PC as possible has obfuscated the process to the point no one can understand the process or verify the assignments.

It is so "complex" that Hoops was able to define it in several sentences. Remove the 1.35 multipler (or better yet, don't apply it to begin with) and include the success factor. Done.

Lutheran North has a Class 1 enrollment, of they only move up one, they'd be Class 2 not Class 3.

And if there are already 64 2A schools they will end up with 65 in that class??
No. My understanding is that the school with the highest enrollment in class 2 would move up to class 3 in that scenario so there's still 64 teams.

But nobody would move down to Class 1 so it would still have 64??

Unless I'm taking crazy pills, classes 2-5 will be roughly the same size not exceeding the mandated 2:1 ratio. Somewhere around 57 teams per class before success factor adjustments. Teams will not be moved post adjustment, the private school in question is the only move.

I will not bet on it, but if a C1 moves to C2, than the smallest C2 is bumped down.
Nope they specifically said a school moving up because of success factor won’t result in another school moving down. Doesn’t make much sense to me but I am sure that’s what it said

"If a non-public school moves up a class it won’t mean another school moves down. It would just make one class one school bigger and another one school smaller."

-The only adjustments that will be made for unisex schools. Those that are single sex will still be doubled and that number will be used as their raw enrollment to determine where their starting base is.”

Article says doubled. It's posters that are confusing 1.35 for single gender.

i appreciate Survivor champ HBL Pirates Fan putting in all the work but I’m thinking this is going to have some very strange district brackets and if there is a problem i’m not sure it fixes it. I’m certainly curious to see how it plays out.

I agree with you. I just done it see what it could look like. Yes it will be a strange district bracket. Even public school decrease and increase enrollments every year. Webb City grow over 50 students over the past year and Jeff City decrease 404 students the past year.

And single gender were doubled before, so that is not a change. I am not sure why this is so confusing.

If think a few people were reading double multiplier and thinking 1.35^2, instead of the actual 2x followed by the 1.35.

If they split classes 2-5 evenly it would look like Webb City district would be the COC minus Joplin and CJ.

apparently there is a concern about the largest school not being over double the smallest school in class 2-5. Why wouldn’t this apply to class 1 also? With many small schools going to 8-man the difference between the smallest and largest class 1 schools keeps growing. That, in turn, leads to more smaller schools choosing to go to 8-man.

If the smallest school is listed at 94 the biggest class 1 school should be 188...

As a said, MSHSAA By-Law 5.1.7 mandates 6 classes in 11 Man Football. The 1st line is for safety purposes. My guess is C6 and C5 will have 32 each, C2-C4 will have 64 and C1 as catchall.

Good grief. Class 6 will have 32 teams. Class 1 will have the smallest 64. Class 2-5 will have around the same amount (somewhere around 57 teams each) with no more than a 2:1 ratio from smallest to largest. Then the private school success multiplier will be applied and affected teams will then be moved up accordingly. There will be no further movement after this to 'even' out the classes.

I would assume if 8-man goes over 32 teams which it appears they will they will go to an 8 district set-up.

Add russellville to class one and not sure where capital city ends up. Get rid of those teams going 8-man : sweet springs, St. Paul’s, Santa Fe, Concordia, jasper, Archie, Schuyler county,

Based on my understanding we are looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 54-57 teams in classes 2-5 with tge number varying a little based on teams being moved up. So could be 58 schools in Class 4 and 56 in class 3.

For example it looks like Kearney might be on the cut line between being the smallest class 5 or largest class 4 next cycle. The larger Class 4 teams like Webb City, Ladue and Camdenton and Platte County would all move into class 5. Divided evenly you will have pretty much 7 team districts with maybe 1-2 8 team ones.

So how accurate is the original list for this thread? Is it legit that Burroughs, Trinity, and Ritter could all be class 4 but MICDS wouldn’t?

Jbs ans Micds will likely be class 3, trintiy could be 3 or 4 Ritter 2 or 3 is my thought.

Having coached in class 1 with a 9 to 11 enrollment of 115 and coached in class 4 with 900 it makes more sense to make class 1 the catch all if you want to keep smaller school in 11 man,. Otherwise 5 yrs down the road another 10 to 15 school will be in 8 man. Back in my day class 1 was capped at 200 enrollment 9 thru 12, class 2 was 200 to 475. It is a mess, but I guess it depends on your goals. Seems a bit ridiculous to give biggest schools with the most depth the shortest playoff arrangement. Just my opinion.

There are several options:
1) Cap at 2x the smallest 11-man school
2) Cap at 200 (9-11) enrollment
3) Make it the catch-all

I agree that we need to keep larger schools from migrating down to Class 1 or it will keep pushing smaller schools down to 8-man. While I do enjoy 8-man football, I think there is a limit to which schools should be 8-man.

Based on the numbers posted and subtracting the schools going to 8 man a class 2 quarterfinalist, summit christian and a class 2 semifinalist, clark county drop to class 1. Blair oaks, southern Boone and mt vernon likely drop to class 2.
