2019 MSHSAA Annual Ballot Results

What about perennial public school power houses such as Lamar, Webb and Blair Oaks? They will not be affected?

I'm pretty sure that the rule only applies to private and charter schools, because no public schools have an inherent advantage like privates and charters.

Webb would most likely be class 5, if they add 10 to 16 teams to class 5.
That is the main change that comes to mind for me. Carthage fans will groan about returning to the days of being the first top 10 poll team to be eliminated year after year. CJ will see a window of opportunity but unfortunately for them it may have come a little too late.

The upside though is that the Carthage / WC game I used to enjoy so much every year would actually matter again.

When families move to an area based on the sports teams, that does create an advantage in my book.

Yes, but notice I said "inherent advantage." There is nothing in the MSHSAA rulebook that gives an advantage to any particular public school over any other public school. Of course outside influences such as district wealth, community job opportunities, and traditional team success will play a role in some people choosing to move their family to or from an area, but how to do propose that MSHSAA police families moving? That is impossible. What do you want to say, that you can only play for the district that you were enrolled in during 8th grade? 6th grade? Kindergarten?
