Don't see that happening but I guess it could. I don't think they'll spend much money for an outfielder with what they already have for the 2 spots that could be in question. I think Jay would have to play his way out of the lineup rather than have to fight for his spot to start the season. RF is no doubt up in the air and ST could make or break somebody for the starting spot. If Bourjos goes crazy with the bat in ST they might move Jay to RF and have Grichuk to back up all 3 spots.
This team is starved for power. Jay and Bourjos cannot possibly coexist in the starting outfield. There will be a power bat in right. And it isn't Grichuk.
An article on the Cardinal's website says Mo is talking to teams about a RF/ bat guy. He says they will look at the free agent market but there's not much there for what they need so they will explore the trade route also. A utility infielder and bullpen help is also on his shopping list. We'll see what he's willing to pay or give up in a trade to get the help he wants. There seemed to be a lot of untouchables last off season. With questions remaining about the health of 2 or 3 pitchers that have been starters and the effectiveness of the bullpen guys how do you give up any pitching right now?
