I was there! Most exciting thing may have been getting from Municipal to my truck. A bit of a tense environment that night.

I wasn't there but remember those teams. KC Central lost to Ryan Robertson's St. Charles West team despite 30 and 20 from Hood. Robertson I believe hit a shot with 1 second left or was fouled with one second left. Something like that. KC Central beat my Sikeston Bulldogs on a tip-in by Hood with seconds left to take 3rd.

But I will throw another game into the hat of greatest high school game in Missouri history and that is the Sikeston-Scott Central game in 2009 won by Sikeston 86-85. 7,200 in a sold out Show Me Center. Greatest game I, or anybody around these parts, have ever seen. Families vs. families. Schools separated by a few miles. They hadn't played in 38 years. The buildup for that game was incredible and the game was even better.

Of course, Floyd

we both know that best games of 1995 were Mexico games against Borgia and Maryville. Or, at least we have a mutual friend who would be pushing that notion.

Re: Of course, Floyd

I can't dispute that. In terms of atmosphere and how well played the game was, the championship game between Mexico and Maryville takes a backseat to no one. Only difference is it didn't go down to the wire. Mexico pulled away to win 88-73 or something like that. But I put the Sikeston-SCC game of '09 in that category too. I've never seen a regular season high school game with that crowd or atmosphere and then a great game to match it.

I was there. Overflow at Municipal Auditorium and that kind of game with major talent on the floor, best high school game I've seen. Raytown would have won state that year if they could have gotten past that night. A matchup nightmare for anybody.

.....LOL....... Just imagine how good that 95 Mexico would have been IF LUE had stayed home in Mexico instead of "relocating" to Raytown South... C =()~

I don't doubt Raytown's talent. But the 4A final four was loaded that year. St. Charles West with a McDonald's All-American in Ryan Robertson. Vashon with their usual loaded lineup, including 6-8 Markese Watkins (Vandy) and Anthony Love (UMKC) along with numerous others, KC Central with McDonald's AA in Hood and other top athletes like 6-6 Jefferson, and my Sikeston Bulldogs with Steven Geralds (SIU football) and Allen Hatchett (SEMO) and Notre Dame track All-American Marshawn West making their first ever final 4 after rallying to beat Hazelwood Central in the quarters. We had Vashon on the ropes....36-23 at the half and led by 4 or 5 in the 4th and just couldn't hold on. And then lost to KC Central 68-66 in the 3rd place game. West beat Central at the buzzer and then came from behind to beat Vashon for the title. Very competitive that year.
