1st week thoughts

MV-Liberty may be for real.
Trinty's, LN's , Hayti's (et all) JV squads mean serious business.
MSHSAA had server issues, AAA-GAIN!
Playoff complainers out in full force.

What results stood out to you?
Trinity is spelled with two “i’s”, isn’t it, Precious?
Yes, yes, and the proper use of “et al.”requires proper spelling and a period at the end, My love.
We hates grammar mistakes, we do.

Playoff complainers are comical. Many of them don’t realize it is the schools that make decisions and some of the proposals will never pass. Having 7 and 8 not make playoffs will never pass because too many schools will vote against it. The round robin districts will not happen again because too many schools will vote against it.

However, there are still problems with current system that can be resolved that will also pass . The first would be to have 6-team districts. This would resolve the problem of having #1 seed play a # 8 seed and give 0-9 teams a better chance in first round game. It would also give more importance to regular season by giving top 2 seeds a week off.

There were 330 teams in 11-man. 6 team districts would max classes at 48 teams. So you would have to increase to 7 classes to do this. There would be 42 in the last class, so some districts would have 5 teams.

So no complaints about the system are valid except yours. And no alternatives are worth discussing, as the member schools wouldn't support them, except for yours.
Lol

Some are not actually angry about what’s in place. Or even looking to argue. Just find the first two rounds to be pointless. Good teams risk injury, and bad teams get stomped on the way out. It’s silly.

Biggest trouble giving 1 and 2 seeds byes is losing out on multiple revenue streams. Schools lose the gate revenue, generally big to decent crowds. Lose the concession stand revenue which normally goes to some club in the organization. Band kids lose a performance opportunity. Community loses tax revenue from out of town people eating at their restaurants and gas stations. Local radio stations lose a week of radio advertising. Local newspaper loses their main sports story for the week plus advertising dollars.

And most important of all the kids lose a game. They only get so many chances to play football in their life. Why take one of those opportunities?

All good points. So perhaps each district should have a consolation side so kids can play more games and halftime shows and we can all spend more of our money which funds all of those things you've mentioned. 3 game guarantee for everyone!

Because those games will draw big crowds.

It's comical that you say that, because most of the "complainers" that I know, are coaches.

Or teams just decide to forfeit and the groups you mention all miss out on that revenue anyway.

If it's too dangerous for ones to play eights, what do we do in the regular season when they play?
Like numerous people have said numerous times, it's not avoiding all of the blowouts, its just a simple/easy adjustment to avoid some of them.

But in theory, you avoid them in season by not scheduling them. You see schools can schedule their own regular season game. Getting out of a conference is a schools choice. Scheduling out of conference games are a schools choice. I realize getting out of a conference may not be feasible in the literal sense, but it is possible, and it is the schools choice.

I would debate with you gate revenue on the first two district games of the one seed. Usually the traveling team is coming a long distance with a small fan base. We say we are worried about injuries, kids getting hurt etc. and then schedule a slaughter in the first round of districts.

Why do you say they are usually traveling a long distance
