18 straight district titles

Am in DC now but I'd swear the Joplin Globe said this is 18 straight district titles for the Webb City Cardinals. If true, that must mean the '07 loss to Carthage was one of those later matchups after the Tigers had finished second in the district and top 2 advanced???

And if true, does anyone else in the state have that long of a streak or longer?
