Wow. Kickapoo sitting at #2 (boys class 5) and #1 (girls class 5). I know it's early but things are looking nice here in Kickapoo Chief Nation.

My Falcons up to #6! Thank God we're in Class 4. Would've won state at that level in 2011 & 2012. Oh, well. Might have moved down a few years too late.

We'll see about this year and the next two. But I really wish we'd been Class 4 in '11 & '12. Heck, I wish we'd been Class 4/3A for the past thirty years.

You would have had some real problems in Class 4 in 2011 and 2012. Sikeston undefeated state champs in 2011 and virtually unchallenged all the way through. Beat Borgia 74-55 in the championship game and Sikeston was quite possibly the best team in the state that year regardless of class. In 2012 you had Soldan who was super talented. Class 4 ain't no joke and I'm sure you'll find that out.

I was talking more about getting to the Final Four or (with Glendale's past) just making out of districts. In 2010, we beat Borgia 86-60 and I know we would've given whomever a run for their money in the final four. In 2011, yes, Soldan was a tough out (as Hillcrest found out), but I would've liked our chances at that level versus the Class 5 equivalent. Remember we had Class 5 runner-up Nixa beaten in regulation that year only to lose in overtime. I will not discuss the re-match district title game under any circumstances.

Borgia was undefeated and nationally ranked in 2010. Borgia lost its only game in Columbia at the Final four against Kearney I believe. Maybe you beat Borgia in 2011? That Borgia team was good and capable of getting on a roll as Soldan found out in the semifinals that year. But not near as potent as the year before when they were upset. But they lost 7 or 8 games that year. I'm not doubting Glendale would fare well. Just saying it's not as easy pickings as you would think. I used to say the same thing when Sikeston was Class 5A (the biggest) and 4A (biggest) in football and basketball all those years. Wondering how bad we would run roughshod over the teams down a class. Only to find out that it was never that easy. Sikeston moved down around 1998 in football and 2001 in basketball. Had some other teams that we thought could win it all, but would run into some really stout Borgia teams in 2006, 2009, 2010. Ran into Notre Dame teams in district (they won it all in 2008 and 2nd in 2007)....beat Sikeston on a 30 footer to win district in 2007. I won't discuss that one either lol.

msu I'm sure you will know which year it was, or can research it, but I think there was a year when Glendale may have been in the C5 district that included 5 20-win teams (probably Nixa, Kickapoo, Glendale, Parkview, and Ozark?). I don't care who you are, that's one tough district.

This year in Class 4 (in SW Mo) I don't see anyone knocking off Bolivar. That is one solid team, returning its whole starting lineup from last year's Final Four team. They thoroughly outplayed Kickapoo at their jamboree this year. Granted, just a jamboree, but still... Nobody will find them an easy out this year.

Bolivar looked solid at the jamboree. Definatly showed Kickapoo that it takes a lot more than a few good players to make a good team. Thankfully we have learned from that night. I do still feel the top 3 in swmo are
1. Kickapoo
2. Bolivar
3. Glendale

Should be exciting to see what happens this year.

No offense to anyone in SWMO,
but to be the man you gotta beat the man...

coming of a 28 win season, yeah they lost 4 starters and this is a new year, but hasn't Nixa done the same thing year after year? Lose starters and just reload...just my
$ .02...I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...
1. Nixa
2. Kickapoo/Bolivar
3. Glendale
4. Hartville

That's my top 5...

Good point. Although I am still a little salty over last years Poo Nixa matchup, I will give the Eagles credit. They have been able to best Kickapoo lately. I don't think that will happen this year though. We will get a better idea this weekend though when they both play a common apponent in Champaign IL at the Ozark Mountain Shootout.

I agree Nixa belongs in the conversation, this year and every year. Even when they don't look great at the beginning of the season, they are great by season's end. Osborne is the best coach in the Ozarks. (Tough to say as a Kickapoo fan, but I don't think anyone else even belongs in the conversation.) Kickapoo should get past them this year, but I think they "should" have last year, too. Unless they learn how to solve that Nixa zone, they will still struggle against them. Also, if Nixa players are allowed to knock Kickapoo players unconscious without fouls being called, that will also give the Chiefs problems.

We beat Borgia in early December 2010. They went 21-9 and finished second in Class 4 that year. Yes, I know Class 4 is tough. Just not as tough as Class 5 when you haven't had any post players for fifteen years now.

Yes, that was 2008-09, when Glendale was a fifth seed with twenty-wins. Of course, we had to play an 18-win Kickapoo team in the first round and I knew how that would end. We've lost nine straight post-season games to Kickapoo: '91 sectional, '93 district final, '97 district semi, '98 district final, '01 district final, '03 sectional, '06 sectional, '09 district first round, and '11 district semi. Embarrassing! That's why I'm glad we're in Class 4 now. We never would've made it past POO.

that happened on the girls side to..although it might have been a year later. Branson won 20 and was the fifth seed. Ended up losing to Kickapoo as well. The district that year was at Parkview.

Ok I see what you mean. December 2010, as in the 2010-2011 season. No, that wasn't Borgia's strongest team but impressive your boys beat them that badly. I'd say they were underdogs to make it back to Columbia and got on a roll late. Their best teams were in 06, 09, and 10. Sikeston lost to all three in the playoffs.
