11 million a year

Just curious how much did Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes make?????
Not sure about them, but I remember in 1978 Mizzou stole a hot young coach by the name of Warren Powers from Washington St. Powers was highly regarded, having previously played and coached at Nebraska and also played in the Super Bowl for the Oakland Raiders. We had to buy him out at Wazzu and he ended up coming to Mizzou for $45,000 a year.

We hired a new coach for $45k in 1978, and that would be the equivalent of $219k today. So how do today’s coaches command 8-figure salaries instead of somewhere in the $200s?
