Jones Bashers...um...

So things have been slow moving so far with Liberty North.

Well, slow lackluster start in Kearney too.

2004: 5-5 (Thomas) 2005: 6-4 (Jones) 2006: 6-4 (Jones) *Amended per the correction police. Information provided by Maxpreps,

Then: 10-2, 13-1, 13-2 (State Champions) and 11-1.

I'm sure Fisted-oh will have something to say...

You know what really grinds my gears ???

We all sit here and give Willard all this love for having funnel cakes and pretend that Webb City doesn't have them as well!!! The last two years I've purchased a funnel cake for the kids about every Webb game and they have told me that they are glorious. Webb needs to raise awareness to end this injustice .....perhaps they should list the funnel cakes to the official roster or something

1-8 Blowouts...is there a fix?

I have noticed in the recent years more and more 8 seeds forfeiting their Week 10 games rather then go and be destroyed 86-0, 68-0, 70-0, ....etc. I have been on the end of a 1-8 match-up several times and it can be brutal. Is there a better solution to avoid these basically meaningless games. I am not a historian but has any 8 seed ever beaten the #1 seed since this new play off format...at least in class 4 down? I don't have any easy solution, possibly have 7-8 play each other week 10, give 1-2 a bye and have 3 play 6 and 4 play 5. Not sure...just not sure 83-0 ball games are good for our sport that seems to already be seeing a decline in participation. Thoughts???

Opinion on First Round Games

My opinion on teams seeded 7 and 8 is the STUPIDEST thing ever. You have low seeded traveling more than 100+ miles and get destroyed by 50 or more points. Ozark traveled 199 miles to play Eureka and they got manhandled. Starting to think orabidone is a fake and he is a mshsaa guy who thought of this playoff system.

I have 3 playoff systems I would like mshssa to use.
1. Go back to a 10 game schedule
2. Use the Illinois playoff system and let the teams earn it
3. Use the same playoff system keep class 5-6 the same. Top 6 teams in each District in Classes 1-4 make the playoffs. Seeds 1 and 2 have first week byes and the other 4 play.

Example
3 vs 6
4 vs 5
1 vs 4 or 5
2 vs 3 or 6

How about a "softball run rule" type policy?

Say if a team goes up by 42 points game is over.

Two-fold effects
1. Would not have these 60-80 point spreads.

2. May have a secondary effect to level playing field overall long term. Instead of the same teams (aka Lamar, Maryville, Webb City etc) where in blowout games underclassmen get alot of valuable varsity experience. Which makes them experienced players ready to step into starter positions year after year.
