Crest Ridge returns with sights set on building
on the outstanding 2013 season. Head coach Chris Cavanah knows he has
work to do to replenish the line up following a conference and district title
and the most wins in school history for the Cougars.

"There several holes to fill on both sides of the ball but we
feel like we have some players ready to step up and play big roles for us. Our
kids are excited to get football started", commented Cavanah.

The Cougars return 7 offensive starters, including all I-70 running back Justin
Donald(5-8 170), junior tight end Noah McCune, and Cole Renick and Matt
Dick on the line. Junior Tyler Rodgers(6-2 160) steps in at quarterback
and is expected to run the team. Kolin Reynolds(5-8 165) will be counted
on at running back as the offense fills the shoes of departed stand out Ethan
Mattews.

The defense returns just four starters, but they are solid in the Cougars 3-5-3
scheme. Donald earned second team all-state honors at defensive back and
returns along with Matt Dick(DL), and all-state linebacker Cole Renick(5-9
165).

The Cougars look like a solid pick to repeat in the I-70 with St. Paul,
Wellington, and Lone Jack providing top challenges. A solid line up at
the Oak Grove jamboree will show them where they are early before opening the
season at Archie.

11-2 may be tough to duplicate, but there is plenty of reason for optimism this
year at Crest Ridge Stadium.
