Class 4 #4 Miller Career Academy Phoenix
(2013 record: 11-1)

Senior quarterback Jaylan James returns for the Career Academy
Phoenix just a season removed from a 1,300 yards, 21 touchdown passing effort as
he guided his team to an 11-1 record and a march deep into the MSHSAA playoffs.
When James isn't dominating foes with his arm, he rushed for 780 yards and 12
touchdowns with his legs.

Returning in the Phoenix backfield Marquis Stewart rushed for
1,800 yards, averaging nearly 11 yards-per-carry and scored 13 touchdowns. Top
wide receiver senior Javon Collard returns, he caught 16 passes for 543 yards
and 9 touchdowns. Stewart returns as a top receiving threat he also had 16
receptions for 302 yards and 3 scores.

The defense returns many key components from a group that
allowed just 138 points, while the offense was piling up 544. Valentino
Armendaiz finished second in tackles with 126 and picked up 2 fumble recoveries.
Ra-Sheen Bolden finished with 110 tackles and 6 sacks, while Darriell Collins
added 116 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception.

The Phoenix will still play several PHL schools, but have
beefed up their schedule a bit with a road trip to Jackson, and games with a
pair of Suburban North foes in Ritenour and McCluer. This is a veteran
club, which returns nearly every key piece from a season ago. With some
speedy new edition the Phoenix are rising!
