ZZ Top vs Rush?

Went to a Rush tribute concert at the Pagent a couple of years ago....
I believe the name of the tribute band was "Thunderhead"....
For 2 1/2 hours, I sat through just about every Rush song that your
average KSHE fan would know, patiently waiting to hear Working Man....

After dealing with their 45 minute, show closing version of "2112"...
the house lights came on and the concert was over..No Working Man....
I walked out of there feeling cheated...

For that reason I pick ZZ Top.

Two completely different animals. Texas based blues vs Canadian Alt-Rock Not that big of a Rush fan, but I loves me some ZZ TOP !!

If Rush wins this one, there is no hope for America. ZZ Top hands down.

Rush is like pulling up to a party in a 1970 bio diesel burning euro car. ZZ Top is rolling up in a '69 Olds 442(or a chopped Merc).

Get out here with that BS.

It's easy. You're 22 years old have your 8 track ready to go at a party. Do you crank Tom Sawyer or Lagrange.......come on man!

This isn't a serious discussion.

Witness your vote doesn't count because Thunderhead is not in question. Go see the real deal. I have seen Rush probably 7 or 8 times and ZZ 3. Two different types of music, but would have to go with Rush. Seen Thunderhead once and there really is no comparison. I think we need to get a music forum on here.

Rush and Top are definitely different. Rush vs. Yes or ELO Genisis . Top similar to Thorogood, Hatchet, Stevie Ray.
I saw Rush and Nugent when I was 15. Rush is tired. Top is old, but still relevant. Tom Sawyer is over rated. One hit wonder. ZZ much more depth.
Just my opinion, Styx is on the level with tired Rush and aligns its sound with Rush. I would rather listen to Emerson Lake and Palmer then either.

Who needs Tom Sawyer when you can crank YYZ?

And I'll settle this debate. Neither! Tool for the win! Which is why I'm going to see them next month haha

Calling Rush tired is incorrect. They have and are still cranking out new music. Can ZZ say the same. Seems like ZZ might be the tired group.

Rush. ZZ Top sold out after the Deguello lp. One of Rush's best lp's was their last one, Clockwork Angels, which shows that after 40 years, they are still creative.

Jaron, Kareem, and Brandon would take them easily. Haf-court, full court, or even horse. Add Jaon's son to the team and ZZ would get skunked!:p
