So I just found out from our coach and need someone to explain why a high school coach in a public school cannot coach a team of 7th-8th grade boys (from their own school) in a spring league after their winter season is over. But, a private school coach can round up a bunch of 7th-8th graders from other schools, coach them and then have them attended their school the next year. So not only can they recruit but they get a two year head start coaching their kids. I KNOW, ZERO ADVANTAGE TO THE PRIVATE SCHOOLS.

Private school coaches coaching the summer softball program and is also the Assistant coach at the high school. I don't understand the rules.

I understand what you are trying to get at, BUT the public school coach could go round up kids from other schools and coach them and then them end up transferring to his school all the same. The private school coach couldn't coach kids that are in his school if it was a k-12 or 7-12 private school during the school year. If it is a 9-12 private school I guess they can coach any JH kids, because none of them are currently enrolled in their school or a feeder school.

Also, Public school coaches can coach summer programs just the same as private school coaches. Same amount of summer contact day with their kids.

Yes a public school coach could round up kids from other school districts and have them transfer to his school prior to starting high school, but their families would have to move physically into their district. In the private school situation kids could commute out of their districts (not physically move) to attend a private school after playing on the select team and being recruited as middle school students.

What I am talking about is a summer travel team. I am sure they use more then there aloted contact days. What if they are a volunteer coach are all rules off then.

If a public school coach whines and bitches and makes excuses for 5 hours per week, year-round, they could have spent a total of over 250 hours per year doing those things instead of figuring out ways to get it done at the place that they chose to work. At least some of that time, of course, will have to go toward getting the word out on message boards, the local coffee shop, etc, so that everybody knows exactly why your team is not better.

Can they not coach teams at all in the summer or does it just count as 1 of their 20 contact days each time they practice and/or play?

Rufus the dufus butt hurt about his cheating private schools and his continued dumb response. "If they take your players then just work harder and beat them" as Rufus continues this moronic statement for as long as he can type the public private battle will continue. FYI Rufus we are a public school and we still playing ball so take your 250 hours and use it to spread the butt hurt cream on your a$$ and get a better response.

Spread the what?! Well, that was vulgar. And no thanks. No offense, just not into it. Just like I'm not into excuses.
