I know this topic has been done before, but what the heck, nothing else to talk about.
What is your favorite Mo high school football game you've attended? (Not counting show me bowl games)
3) Lexington beats Oak Grove 1991-ish. Two rivals, Lexington leading, running out the clock, three straight times an Oak Grove player was "injured", after several minutes with the trainer on the field, player pops up and runs off. I got a in a little trouble when I broadcasted after the third time it was a "miracle"lol
2) Chillicothe 24, Maryville 0 week three. Incredible game, finally got a W in a hard fought game. Will always remember the sight of a Hornets 130lb safety hanging on the the ankle of the Maryville big Fullback, determined to keep him from scoring. Yes, he did make the tackle.

1) 2003 Chillicothe 24 at Platte County 14 Sectionals. This game snapped Platte County's 52 game win streak. The only time Chilli football beat Platte County ever. Hornet coaching staff came out of the locker room after the game sporting screen printed "52-1" T-Shirts lol. At one time in this series, Chillicothe lost 9 games in 4 years, 8 of them were to Platte County.

1. Potosi vs. North County the year Brandon Bourbon ran for 455 yards on 9 carries.

Joplin vs Carthage this past year
56-55. 1000yds of offense. Game decided by 1 yard after a 1 handed catch falling out of bounds and a bad snap followed by Carlton somehow getting in the endzone. Not only because of the game's ending, but the fact that the 3 best players in the COC were in that game and it started a rivalry going forward between the two.

First one that comes to mind is Carthage at Nixa in the quarterfinals a few years ago. It was a lot like last year's Joplin game except a better ending for Carthage, on top 48-46 after a stopping a 2pt run on the 1yd line.

LSW v. Staley at Staley 4 OT. At the end the fans on both sidelines just kind of sat there in a daze wondering if it really was over. Glad we drove 3 hours to see it. It was an all time classic for me. Don't remember the year but it was Boehm's senior year I believe.

There are a couple of Lamar/Mt.View Liberty games that stand out, as well as the Lamar/Luthern North game won by a blocked field goal attempt.

The 2010 and 2015 games come to mind, although I can't quite recall who won those... haha

Two more MVBT Liberty games come to mind. One is from 2011 where our all state SR. QB got hurt against Thayer and we fell behind 0-22, we moved our best WR, who was a SO. at the time, to QB and reeled off 30 unanswered in the 2nd half to win 30-22 in Thayer. The other is from 2013 when we played our biggest rival at the time Mountain Grove in Grove. Earlier that week a recent Liberty grad and the town's favorite son had passed away in one the craziest bits of circumstance I've ever experienced and the whole town showed up in Grove with heavy hearts and a lot of pent up negative energy. After the first Grove was up 0-7 and the team didn't look great, after that the offense exploded and looked better than I've ever seen it look and Liberty won 57-34. This was the first Liberty game my now wife had ever experienced. She went to a large school in JOCO KS and was shocked that two towns of about 3k got 5k worth of people packed in for a high school football game. It was a special cathartic moment I will never forget. High school sports in their purest form.

Also, I randomly went to a Maysville vs Polo game in Maysville in 2015 that Polo won 66-60 in regulation. Polo had a 6'1 230 RB that looked like Jim Brown out there among the sea of 5'7 160 Maysville boys. I couldn't decide if it was the best offensive shootout I'd ever seen or just two of the worst defenses ever. I settled on the latter haha! Maysville ended up avenging the loss later on in the playoffs!

2007 Monett @ Cassville. Big 8 and district titles on the line. game went into OT and Monett won on a 2pt convo 21-20 and we stormed Cassvilles field. A cold night down in Barry county. Physical phyiscal game. Was a packed house in Cassville and made for a great game.
2016 Lamar @ Monett. Lamar was going for their 6th straight title and Monett was hoping for a Class 3 title that year. Monett lost 34-49 and allowed two kick returns. Was a super fun game and great atmosphere.
both Lamar and Monett would go on to win state titles.
2013 Webb City @ Nixa. This was the first game I ever got to watch Webb play and almost witnessed the impossible, Nixa beating Webb. Nixa I believe had a chance to kick the game winning field goal but went for the TD instead and Webb stopped them, Game went into OT Webb stopped Nixa again and Webb scores to on the first play to pass to Kiante. Damn good game.

2011 Webb City @ Savannah. Semifinal--Savannah up 21-0 early. Webb mounts a steady comeback, has a chance to tie 24-24 with a FG, but goes for the TD to end the game, winning 28-24. A lot of people who had a fantastic first 47 minutes and 59 seconds, were sorely disappointed.

1989 Monett Versus Webb City, Monett would fall behind 21-6 going into halftime, Monett was forced by injuries to go to the air the second half and would take the lead 22-21. Webb would later kick a long field goal to win the game with very little time on the clock.
1990 Webb City Versus Monett , Monett would lose 16-13 again in a back and forth game.
2019 Joplin Versus Webb City, one heck of a game with so much emotion before the game and after.

Webb/Savannah was great. I'll even add in the 2007 Carthage/Webb game. Hated to see Webb lose but to see the pure emotion from the other side was pretty awesome too. That to me is what football was all about. A relative of mine had a hand in helping Carthage win that game and when my gramps and I went to visit his brother, the kids grandpa, we saw the kids picture on the wall. My gramps looked at it and said: "I thought we kicked him out of the family." His sister in law didn't like it but I thought it was one of the funniest things Id ever heard him say.

1991 Bowling Green over Louisiana 52-50. Over 1,000 yards of offense. Both teams returned kickoffs for TDs. Louisiana bobbled a field goal snap in the final minute. BG’s first win over Louisiana in a number of years vs. their county rival.

The year was 2011. LSW @ Staley in the class 5 semifinal game. Staley's QB was Trent Hosick. LSW's QB was equally impressive but I don't recall his name. I do recall that he went on to Iowa State and played linebacker for the Clones. The final score was 76-70. Neither team could stop the other. Staley went on to win state that year which was their first state title.

The Webb City/Memphis Ridgeway game in 2003 was a classic too.

Webster Groves v Chaminade in the 09 Quarterfinals was a great one, crazy ending. There is video of the ending on YouTube called “Miracle at Moss”

Rock Bridge @ Hickman ‘94
Hickman won 43-42 in 3OT after a successful 2pt conversion by Hickman QB Corby Jones. Almost 10k in attendance. In a stadium that couldn’t have sat 3k at the time. I was a sophomore at MU at the time. Pretty sure we got to the stadium around 3 for the game. It was nuts. First time the two teams had played in nearly 15 yrs I think.

I was at the 03 Chillicothe/PC game KCHI put at #1. It’s probably my #2. My first yr in education and coached hoops at a little school just down 36 from Chilli. Hung out with some guys from there and went to the game with them. It was a dandy.

That game typically started at 7:00PM. I live about 10 minutes from the stadium and went straight home after the game... I got home just before midnight.
Yep. We stopped at Country Kitchen in Warrensburg for their breakfast buffet and lots of hot coffee. So, we pulled into home about 4:00 because just outside of town I broke into my best Faron Young, "Its 4 in the morning and once more the dawning just woke up the wanting in me." They all joined in and we sang it to the end. Just four old over the hill country boys still enjoying football and our country music way past our high school years. Ah, memories! Thanks for rattling that memory Homey.

Miller at Adrian 1994 class 1 semifinals... pouring down rain ...3 OT finally field goal to win.. definitely championship game that year....

I’m from Greenfield and this fall was my first year at MSSC (at the time). Had never heard the score of this game or how it played out. I’ve looked online but never was able to ever find any info on it. I was always certain Miller would win one when Justin Taylor was there. One of the better HS running backs I’ve ever seen. Definitely best I’ve ever played against.

Haven't taken in many "non-show me bowl" games that didn't include the STG. And most of my favorites included me in them for obvious reasons.

'98 California vs STG, tight game the entire way. Cali went on to win state.
'98 Duchesne vs STG, Duschesne kicker missed the XP to allow the game to go into OT. STG wins
'93 Borgia vs STG. I was there but don't/didn't remember a lot of the details until the game was put up on youtube. Neat to see the old field setup and the people lined up around the track, minus the fence.
'95 Valle vs STG winner winner chicken dinner

Dang, miss Country Kitchen! I had some 4am coffee a time or three.

Not my favorite game but probably the best game, 2013 Lamar/CJ. Some of the details have slipped me in the last 7 years. Lamar spotted CJ 21 point in the first quarter. Lamar dug their way back and took I believe their first lead of the game in the final minute. Then as time expired CJ perfectly executed the hitch and pitch to win 50-46.

2003 SG vs Duchesne quarter final game played in the mud and heavy rain off and on.Nail bitter 20-14 SG wins.SG recovered a fumble with about 6 minutes left in the game to run the clock out.

Those last few years CJ was in the conference there were some really good games between CJ and Lamar

This is anecdotal only but it seems like some of the classic games we saw and remember fondly involved rain and mud. Sadly, the mud element was a great equalizer which the artificial fields take away. I understand their utility but frankly I prefer the natural grass still.

Wow. These posts have an eerily high amount of similarities as another game thats been discussed on here before.

Top ranked Duchesne at the time...

We did catch a few breaks that game.

1. It rained and rained and rained and then rained more. Outside of Salem in 2002 Semis they were the biggest team across the front we(collective group) faced.
2. I believe one of their best players broke his hand the week before, played safety and dropped an easy interception(well minus the down pour)

Given the post dispatch comments later that week, I don’t think they appreciated playing in those conditions....lol

Earlier in the week Fox 2 sent a crew down to do a special on Schwent and they introduced it as something along the lines of when “#1 Duchesne drives south to take on the hicks from the sticks of Ste Genevieve”. Spirit group made a 40’ sign at the gate “welcome to the sticks”

Needless to say when Stolzer called the offense over after the fumble recovery at our 40ish and put it on the line, we were slightly motivated....50ish yard drive to milk 6 minutes.

Only been 17 years.......

Coach Stolzer was a great man/coach. He could give an official as good as an ass chewing as anyone out there..

I was fortunate enough to be on the sidelines for that game and the one the following year in CJ. The 2013 game was better, although they are the 2 best games I have attended. The atmosphere for both games was incredible, with one game decided on the last play and the other on the 2nd to last play.

Should’ve mentioned that one too. Was a dandy. Unreal crowd. Didn’t they both win state that yr? Had something like 10 first team all staters between the two teams??? Or was it 94 I’m thinking of?
