For all of the conversation on the broadcast about the Wrigley renovations...It seems things have snagged a bit. I have a feeling this is going to be a long trainwreck.

Just a few wee problems

On the telecast I could hear vendors shouting "Get your peanuts. Get your catheter."

Dang, you guys are awfully concerned about all things Cubs.

This all falls on the Rooftops and their frivolous lawsuits. Or the City for not just telling the rooftops to shut their mouth because they had no case.

Ricketts are fixing the dump and trying to at least bring it up to 1980s standards rather than 1930s.

If this were the NFL they would be building a new stadium or moving to LA

MLB should not have allowed them to open the season in that mess. Other teams have opened on the road for a long stretch when their stadium was not ready for games/fans.

Wrigley and the Cubs are the same. Under construction and not ready for prime time.

I have no freaking clue why the MLB pushed this. They went out of their way to move this game to make Wrigley the opener....knowing that there was no chance in hell that it would be ready.

The bleachers...who cares. that looked good. Everything else was delayed too,and they cant work past like 8pm because Wrigleyville starts bitching

Back in 2006 when Busch wasn't quite ready, it still LOOKED ready. Work continued behind the scenes. And this was in the area within the Busch II footprint (which was demo-ed late due to another postseason run). From what I understand, the locals had a lot to do with the slow pace, not allowing construction to be a 24 hour effort. I can understand that, but still - that looked horrible and I feel they should be further along than they appear to be.

On a side note, the Jumbotron looks out of place. It's too big for what surrounds it. And they are going to have TWO of them? Seems like they are thumbing their nose at the rooftop owners just because they can. I'm all about history, but IMO the Cubs are ruining it.

Will only be 1 jumbotron. It looks out of place without the bleachers around it. will look great when that is cleaned up.

The neighborhood has delayed everything. The rooftops tried suing, even though the cubs had these changes approved. That's all the contract said....it needed city approval, and they were good to go. To make things better, one of the rooftops suing....went through a Federal investigation and they found that the Skybox had been underreporting $1.5 million for years now

They might have went back to having two. I very easily could have missed it.

They are doing those to generate a massive amount of revenue to self fund further updates. Clubhouses. Bullpens off the field(this is one I wish didn't happen, but oh well). Actual parking. Hotel. New press box and updating the grounds crew area.

They are also trying to buy out all of the rooftop areas around the field. They want to be able to close down the streets during games/concerts and have a huge concourse...similar to STL or Baltimore.

They said more than once on the broadcast they will have another screen on the RF side but not as big. They also said as soon as the game was over the would work start upagain last night. They must have got by the curfew too.

They might have. I'll look into it(you can't believe everything Kruk and Schilling say though ). Last I had read up on it was the neighborhood was throwing a fit about it.....because they forget their entire property value rides on Wrigley.

Just did a quick search on time

8-8 Monday through Saturday. Cubs asked for 6-10 and were declined

It was the play by play guy, not the baseball player add ons.

Also just found the plans

The 2nd board is going to be a smaller board. But not a video board. Just an electronic scoreboard pretty much. showing stats and such

I don't think they ever said what would be on it, just that it would be there. I assume the point was it will block the rooftoppers view.

The Cubs thought they were safe with the number of toilets they had because they didn't have the runs.
