WoW Jones North is 0-2

Shocked by this K-town probably laughing right now
Perhaps a few. I am not one of them. I stated back when he took the job he has to do what he feels is best for he and his family. Week 5 will be extremely interesting but, in the larger picture, will be a game for pride only. The local 'dogs have issues especially offensively they need to work on NOT worrying about the former HC.

The only way I saw him beating KTown this year was if he had vastly superior athletes at LN. After all, the present KTown players have been in his system 3 years, LN only a part of one. Throw in that KTown has a football culture and history that isn't just built in a few months and I think you should have expected the result. The true test will come over the next 5 years (talent pool being relatively equal). I'm very curious to see how LN progresses over the balance of the year.

North Liberty is also fast growing. The Eagles are likely to be in Class 6 within a couple of years.

And it doesn't get easier in week #3. Liberty v. Liberty North. I watched Liberty v. Belton on channel 62. Liberty looks very athletic.
This has been in the making the past two years. Rawie was a standout as a Sophomore and is among the favorites for the Simone award BUT this is one of those rivalry games I think is in the tossup column. Jones will have North ready as can be..........

This isn't shocking at all. (1) New coach and system. (2) No established culture. Relatively apathetic suburban area that doesn't have a strong identity yet. When pushed, kids are more likely to quit. (3) No youth feeder system attached to the school. Unlike Kearney, where kids are doing the same offensive system from Age 5, and half the starting Seniors have played together as Bulldogs for years.

He has to establish buy-in. He is there to try to keep their heads above water when the go Class 6 in the coming years.

He won't be there in 5 years. As soon as his daughter graduates in two years he is off to college. He will draw his Missouri pension and be coaching college somewhere.

Football is about Community.

Put two teams on the field that both have blank uniforms/helmets and no one would care.

He's making 6 figures to coach high school football and he took over a program that has 3 top 10 finishes in the final poll of its class in the last 4 years. What more culture needs to be established to avoid the 5-6 loss season that's staring them in the face? They've already had 50 dropped on them and lost to Raytown, 2 things that haven't happened at LN since their 1st year. It's not like LN is some turd of a program that has gone winless for years and they certainly don't lack facilities/resources.

I don't really have a dog in this fight but Jones is a good coach. If his time in Kearney is any indication I would imagine LN will establish a strong weight lifting program and over the next couple years LN will establish a strong presence on defense. LN may or may not get the community support that he had at Kearney but I think 2 games is very premature to base a judgement. Maybe he doesn't have much to work with this year.

If your talking about a team that played C6 for a bazillion years and has ZERO wins against C4 Webb City then that would be C5/6 Rockhurst.

If your talking about a team that is C5/C4 soon to be C6 Liberty North. Then that team has a 1-6 record against C4 Kearney.

This is the breakdown of just these two teams...
C4 Webb City 2-0 against C6 Rockhurst
C4 Kearney 2-0 against C5 Liberty
C4 Kearney 6-1 against C5 LN

In my opinion Jones already knows how to WIN.
The question should be... "does Liberty?"

I cannot wait to finally get out to see games week after week again. TV/Webcasts are great but going in person is where one really learns what is going on. All that said at this early point my area Class 5 top 5 reads like: 1) Staley, 2) Fort Osage, 3) Liberty. Hard to see anyone else contending for the title (Park Hill South really shocked me last week and I think Chrisman doesn't have the offense this year).

Haven't seen Staley this year so really can't say anything about them but just based on what I saw with Fort O, their good enough to get the job done.

Rockhurst is 18-7 vs Liberty all time.

All the free wheeling spending for Liberty athletics is rubbing the "community" the wrong way. Did the they really need 2 new cookie cutter stadiums that look exactly the same? or could 1 have done. LN got a new gym with a huge video board, Liberty cried and they got one also. Once LN starts to win is Liberty going to want their own 6 figure coach? because when Rawrie is done its back to 6-5.

Staley, Liberty, and Kearney are part of an apathetic suburban area? Did Liberty North and Liberty not build brand new stadiums or is that a mirage?

Staley and Liberty have losing records to Kearney. Kearney has had much more success than Staley or Liberty. Kearney is a suburb--yes, but not one without an identity, and certainly not one with the apathy that exists in the Liberty area (with random border lines and disconnected neighborhoods) making up the designated Eagle territory. Kids going to grade schools that have their own distinct mascot. While in Kearney, a Bulldog is raised a Bulldog from birth, through all of grade school. Kids play on Bulldog youth football teams. Just like kids from Webb and Lamar. Staley and Liberty kids play in four different youth football leagues on unrelated teams. The Liberty school district has four middle schools...so kids go to high school with people they don't even know from the other middle school.

Liberty High school has leaking ceilings like a third world school. Liberty North is a shopping mall.

Sentence structure and grammar is not your cup of tea. It's hard to take you seriously.

Liberty High school has to get their holes in their leaking roof fixed.

I think what you meant to say was "Sentence structure and grammar ARE not you cup of tea. It's It's hard to take you SERIOUS."

you must teach AP English at Liberty.

Kearney used to play Liberty in the 80's and 90's? Did Kearney play Liberty before Liberty built a second high school? Did Oak Park play Kearney before Staley was built? This is nonsense. Kids grow up in their communities and want to be Blue Jays, Eagles, Falcons or Bulldogs with equal enthusiasm. The only person on this board comparing the value of playing HS Football in Kearney as opposed to Liberty and NKC Schools is you.

yeah, kids just can't wait to grow up and play for the NKC Hornets or the Oak Park Northmen. The enthusiasm is contagious, I'm sure. I stand corrected. NOT.

And Kearney has been open how long compared to Staley? Obviously Staley was going to lose to Kearney in the beginning. If both jobs were open you'd rather go to Staley than Kearney. Not saying Kearney is a bad job/program but Staley has it's obvious benefits.

Staley > Kearney > Liberty

You mean like lots of apartments for recruiting, like from South Missouri? Buffalo Mo perhaps?
