I think classifications and districts are set to come out in three or four weeks. Do you think that MSHSAA will make the logical decision to draw up district maps for the girls side first, copy that over to the boys side, and adjust accordingly or will they once again have all the boys districts with roughly the same number of teams while the girls side has some districts with eight teams and other districts with one.
Last year's classes and district sizes:
Class 1 girls- 14 districts with six or seven teams, 1 district with one team, 1 district with two teams
Class 2 girls- 7 districts with six teams, 5 with seven teams, 2 with five teams, 1 with eight teams, 1 with four teams
Class 3 girls- 11 districts with six teams, 3 districts with seven teams, 2 districts with five teams
Class 4 girls- 13 districts with five or six teams, 2 districts with four teams, 1 district with seven teams
Class 5 girls- 13 districts with four or five teams, 2 districts with three teams, 1 district with six
Class 6 girls- 9 districts with four teams, 6 districts with five teams, 1 district with three teams
Classes 3 and 6 are decent, could be balanced a little better, but it's at least a decent balance. The other classes are honestly just ridiculous. Travel is not an issue if some thought is put into creating the districts, so I'm not sure why they can't do a better job at this. Hopefully they'll decide to show a little respect in how they handle the girls side, but I'm not holding my breath. Come on MSHSAA, surprise us.
