I heard just a hair of that talk from Dan and Al during the game. I ffwd through a lot of the between pitch BS late in the game depending on how tired I am. But did hear them mention it. My only worry with the interest in Peavy, tells me they think Wacha is going to be out a while. I'm PERFECTLY fine with CMart and Kelly filling the two starter roles though. I love Peavy (maybe more accurately, loved him a few years ago), but I have basically zero hope they get him. Unless it's really, really cheap.Originally posted by 3Rfan:
I'm pretty sure he's not a great offensive weapon.
The info coming out about Wacha doesn't sound encouraging to me. I wouldn't be totally shocked if we don't see him again this year. I hope he can make it back by Sept and provide a lift down the stretch.Originally posted by Eagles_Ball:

Not sure if I put it on here or not, but I know I told a golfing buddy (and fellow Bird fanatic) the Sunday after they DL'd both Garcia and Wacha...my gut instinct was neither would pitch again this season (fwiw, I also told him Garcia had thrown his last pitch as a Bird). Granted, I tend to overreact a bit to injury reports. But, heck, as a Birds fan it's hard not to...I sure hope I'm wrong, but it just doesn't look that way.Originally posted by oldroundballer:

After a little reflection, I'd say the Peavy interest has a couple reasons...maybe...one is obviously the uncertainty with Wacha. That seems to be a given. The underlying reason could very well be the lack of trust with Shelby, either physically or mechanically. Obviously he's not right. K rate way down, BB rate up. Alarming trend. Peavy just very well could be insurance for something related there. And truthfully, if the Birds don't have to give up CMart, OT, Wong, or Marco to get him...then consider me at least okay with kicking the tires. I guess it all depends on the asking price.Originally posted by 3Rfan:
The Peavey of today is why I was wondering why. A few years ago I would liked to have had him but i see no advantage to it now. Pitching has not the issue even with the injuries.
