My guess is Yadi probably tells them when he wants to play, when he wants off or out.

I assume most of you saw it, but him telling that young buck to steal the other day, then throwing him out was awesome. Dude still has some gas in the tank huh.

Speaking of Yadi, have any of you seen a better catcher? Obv Bench, Rodriquez, who else was better? Is he a hall of famer? Obv Cardinal nation thinks so, and I would have to think he is a hall of famer.

A real good article today in the KC Star about Salvador Perez... He claims that there is no better catcher in MLB than Yadi Molina.

I have not watched a better defensive catcher in the last 20 years. He also may not be a power bat but he has come up with some clutch hits though. I do not see how he isn’t a first ballot Hall of Famer. There was a stat the other day I can’t find again that shows since 04 the Cards have had the least amount of stolen bases and the next best team was like 300 more... yeah, Yadi is a Hall of Famer. That stat isn’t all him but it’s a lot of it. Fantastic player and glad he’s had the Birds on the Bat this long!

There was an article on the Card's website that broke it all down very well. I'd say when he got his 2000th hit he was a lock for HOF.

I saw a post on why he was still in there. Apparently Yadi picks a spring training game to play a full 9 innings to prep for the season as well as get time with some of the younger pitchers to help them out. This was the game.

Works for me, I guess he has earned the right to do it his way. He's not the one talking about his number of innings all time anyway. Probably just something for the TV guys to talk about.

In their primes, is Molina better than Tony Pena defensively?
I agree he is a hall of famer.

I think, w/o question. I dug Pena, but he was as much style as he was substance at times. He was darned good for 4-5 yrs with the Bucos though. Past it a bit when the Birds got him.

We have been spoiled to have had some really good catchers as Cardinals. McCarver, Simmons, Porter, Pena, Pagnozzi, Matheny, Molina.
True story here. There's about a handful of guys in the league that don't make me cringe when I watch them receive or block a ball. Some are really awful to my eyes, but it's sorta like watching Glaus play 3B after Rolen. In all honesty, Glaus wasn't THAT bad. Rolen was just that darned good.

Best D men ever will never be agreed on but the Cards have had some who have to be on the lists. Yadi is at the top for me. There may be some as good but not better. Same for the Wizard. Rolen. Ballgame. Keith Hernandez. Wong was better than we might give him credit for. Albert's D was overshadowed by his bat but he was really good with the glove too. There were some before my time that would be on lists too. I'd add MattyH but, well, you know. Now Arenado is supposed to entertain us. Who am I forgetting?

Jose Oquendo only had 3 errors (.996 fielding percentage, 681 chances) in 150 games in 1990, but still didn't win the gold glove that year (Sandberg with 8 errors, 755 chances). Goldschmidt is fun to watch pick em right now.

Vina was a very good second baseman and Edmonds was great in center.
