Why pitch to Martinez?

They had 1st base open, the winning run on 2nd and they pull the infield in and pitch to one the best the best pinch hitters around, not to mention he's been VERY good runners on. I don't care who was coming up behind him, ya gotta walk the guy and play for the DP and hope to get a ground ball. Even if he gets the fly ball it only ties the game, not send you home. :eek:

I agree with you but I ain’t complainin’ or questionin’. Just cheerin’.
 
Had to pitch to him or Carp with bases loaded. Pick your poison.
Carp is not fast, if he hits a ground ball your out of the inning, if he hits a fly ball it only ties the game. Martinez at 1st means nothing and he's 400+ pinch hitter. I would have had to take my chances putting him on. Like you I ain't complaining but I think it was a dumb move.
