Why have free agents not signed yet?

Was there a rule change that caused this delay?

Is there collusion among the owners?

We are half way thru January. There are some really good players sitting out there.
Lorenzo Cain, Hosmer, Darvish, J.D. Martinez and Arrieta each can put a contending team over the top.

And there are dozens of other FA who are worthy major leaguers.

2 main reasons

1) next year's free agent class

2) big changes to the luxury tax, to hammer teams like that Dodgers or Yankees

I would rather have Hosmer than Matt Carpenter and I would rather have Cain than Fowler. Not saying we need to sign these people. Just saying those guys are winning baseball players.

Times are tight. Maybe MLB GMs and owners are beginning to realize the error of their ways in the past. No more albatross, stranglehold, long term contracts for a few years of decent production.

These teams are still making money

I feel bad for Lance Lynn and some of the others. Timing is everything. Owners are colluding.
