Who would be a good fit in the North Central Missouri Conference since Boonville is leaving after the 17-18 season? It will be 6 schools left.

Centralia is smaller and likely would never leave the CCC because of all the years of tradition...but they would be a good competitive fit imo.

Helias Catholic was in that league years back. Why not return especially given their rivalry with Hannibal.

Helias and Father Tolten have joined the AAA I believe starting in 2018. But Helias would have been the best fit for sure.

I remember Helias being in the conference. I think Father Tolton would be a fit if they didn't join the AAA.

Suggesting Helias Catholic is an interesting idea but certainly wouldn't happen since the conference schools voted them out so many years ago. That is why Helias had to go independent. They attempted to join the Metro Catholic Conference but those schools didn't seem to keen on the additional travel for a conference opponent. It remains to be seen how long Helias' new conference affiliation last with a second high school being built in Jeff City. Maybe a new central Missouri conference could happen with the 3 Columbia public schools and the 2 Jeff City public schools with Helias.
SoBoCo will continue to grow given their location. Its central location makes it a good choice for either the Tri-County conference or the NCMC.

A new central MO conference could also include West Central refugee Smith-Cotton.

If North Callaway was little bit bigger school they probably be a good fit in the North Central Missouri Conference.

Rumor has it Fulton would like out of the NCMC and in the Tri-County. I don't think the Tri-County wants to expand any bigger than they are now though. What I don't understand is why Hannibal remains in the NCMC and doesn't try to move to Gateway. Much better suited for their size and travel would be the same if not a little less

Isn't there only 7 in the tri-county now? And is Warsaw leaving also so that would be 6 schools.

8 presently, Warsaw leaving and Boonville joining leaves the number static. I don't know the exact timing but I believe a good move for both schools from a competition standpoint.

My bad. But if they joined would be nine. And wouldn't need to look for out of conference games. But good move fro both Boonville and Warsaw.

Hannibal does have to travel a good distance to Marshall.

For Fulton that is.

Really don't see any good options for the NCMC unless Tolton takes out of going to the AAA.

Actually the geography for Rolla and Waynesville isn't much different either direction. Columbia schools are about 100 miles from Rolla. Springfield is about 110 miles. Springfield is about 80 miles from Waynesville, 100 to Columbia.

And Waynesville to Kirksville or Waynesville to Hannibal would be a bitch. Can't see it working due to geography.

I think Boonville is a better fit in the North Central Missouri Conference than Tri County.

Tri County enrollment NCMC enrollment
Eldon-605 Hannibal-1024
Osage-551 Marshall-818
So. Boone-501 Kirksville-756
Blair Oaks-430 Moberly-735
California-416 Mexico-675
Versailles-384 Fulton-655
Hallsville-377

Boonville's enrollment is 512 tri county looks like a better fit. NCMC needs a very large class 3 or class 4 team.

Yes Boonville is the smallest school in the North Central Missouri Conference but my point is they competed very well in the conference.

Why would Hannibal or Kirksville be in a "new central Mo. conference"?
Hannibal and Kirksville are already in the NCMC. He suggested Waynesville or Rolla as possible additions to the NCMC. I pointed out that adding those schools would make long trips from Waynesville to Kirksville or Hannibal.

Why wouldn't they be?
I was responding to the poster who suggested Waynesville and Rolla as possible additions to the NCMC. I assumed he meant adding them to the existing conference, which would make for some awfully long trips from Waynesville to Hannibal or Waynesville to Kirksville.

I caught that brother. I was responding to him for the same reasons as you

Boonville is a perfect fit for the Tri-County and really should have joined it years ago. During their MRVC days, the out of conference schools they always played was Versailles, California, and Eldon.
