They haven't been near full strength all year, and they probably lost two more starters on defense after the district championship game.
Reeds Spring still shouldn't come in overconfident especially if they think Osage blew out Boonville. That is not what happened.
With less than 10 minutes left in that game, a Boonville receiver dropped a sure-thing touchdown that would have tied the game. Next play, penalty, next play, blocked punt. (Actually, the QB/punter didn't move back far enough when fielding the snap and punted the ball off of his own center's helmet). 😂
Boonville drove all the way down the field next drive only to throw an interception in the end zone when a Boonville receiver who hadn't practiced all week because of an injured ankle fell(or was knocked down).
Osage scored on a big play shortly after that turnover, and Boonville pulled their starters to try and avoid even more injuries. The last play of the game a jv running back was smoked and Osage got a scoop and score 6 out of it. Osage outscored Boonville 28-0 in 4th quarter.
Boonville really hoped Osage would win so they could get another shot at them. The game was a lot closer than the score, and Boonville was playing the second half without a lot of players.
You could still be right. If Reeds Springs can shut down the Boonville offense like they shut down Osage, then yes, it will be a long day for Boonville. BUUUT! If Boonville can grind out drives like they have the last month they can really shorten the game and stay competitive. It really sucks that we are going to be even more shorthanded on the defensive side this week because the defense was playing the best they have played all year making big play after big play.
