Who to watch this spring?

As a fan of distance runners, I'm going to be watching for Class 1 sophomore Blake Goodin out of Princeton who ran a 4:25 1600 last year to win the state title and Class 2 junior Caleb Hoover out of College Heights Christian who ran a 4:15 in the same event to claim the state title and record. On the girls' side in smaller classes there is the Vollmer girl out of Hamilton who has dueled Precious Selman for the last 2 years in the hurdles and jumping events.

The whole Hamilton Penney Hornet team is a must see.
How many titles the girls won in a Row?
With this being Lindsey Vollmers senior season and
Coach Vollmers penchant for state titles they are the cream
of the crop in class 2 followed by Elsberry, Lawson, Trenton
not necessarily in that order. Hamilton is returning just
too many titlists from last year. Elsie Greenwood if the knee
has recovered from basketball with Lucas and Dalton and Clevenger
and Lapen especially since they are returning so many freshmen and sophomores from last years state champs.

Both Kassanavoid girls from Lawson along with Aquino, Tipton, Cox, Weir,
should do well. Kapaeder, Wilson, Hooyman, Mack, and Steinoff are an
excellent group from Trenton

For the guys, The Hornets should be a serious threat here as well. All state lineman TJ Schieber was brutal last year as a Sophomore in the discus and shot with his state performances. All state running back "T Rev" Trevor Dixon is chasing his brothers school record in the hurdles and his 4th place finish last year at state. All state TE 6'5" Big Josh "Poo" Pickrell is chasing his brothers school records in the 4x400 and 4x800 and could be triple and long jumping. He brings blazing speed for a big man so no wonder UCM signed him along with all everthing QB and point guard Keagen Prather who you cant count out of winning any race he's in. Just ask any of the football and basketball players who were forced to just watch him go by this last season. Jaylund Richmond, brother to the all state lineman from Penney last year and this years other blazer at the WR/TE position for the State Champ Hornets, brings with his 6'3" frame, great leaping abilty and just plain smoke to the track effort this year.
Look for him to be combo d with Dixon, Prather and Pickrell in some relays that they didnt have last year at state. And just when you thought you were going to get a breath comes "Sweet Legs" Jay Powell. This burner from the State Champ football team at the corner position can just flat out blow by everybody. An incredible replacement to supplant last years super-speedster in the graduating Dylan Chadwick. With numerous fill ins and a full roster look for Coach Vollmer to give a serious run at the likes of Maplewood, Hogan Prep, Principia, and Centralia.

Other strong teams could be Lawson with the Akers kid who is another
family traditions runner. He should be good along with Hales, Peck, and Nilges.
Trenton with Preston, McGinnes, Dolan, and Acton, could push some teams.
Straffod will be strong but waiting to see how they get off the blocks this year.
Bausby for Hogan and the whole Maplewoods team are always a good show
so good luck checking these teams and participants out.
I know I've missed a few names and schools but from North Central
Missouri Hamilton is the team to watch.
