What programs have had a bad decade or never reached their potential, but if they turned things around or got things going, could be a top program/powerhouse? (A team that could rank top 10 most years.)

Just around K.C., I would say... Grandview would be one. Tremendous athletes, and some past success. They have won five track state championships in the past 9 years. Raytown South -- loads of talent. I know the Kearney and Harrisonville people will laugh, but Excelsior Springs is also one. They have played football there for over a 100 years, had five undefeated teams and two teams that won state championships in the 90s.

The entire south KC area is loaded with potential. Both Raytown schools appear on an upswing for example............CENTER is a great example of what can happen in a very positive way.

Joplin could be very good if they ever got the right coach there and all the athletes in that school went out for football.
It would probably also help if families with promising young athletes stopped moving to Webb City!

But I agree. I have long thought Joplin had a ton of potential to be a power in SWMO. I'm interested to see how their experimental scheme with basketball works and if they expand to other sports. Also interested to see them in the COC.

The money that Gregg Williams donates helps too
