More information about what happened to Whitfield this year.

Had six girls on a team one year. Finished a game with 3 players. Had 9 players in boys basketball one year. Lost 4 9th graders half way through because they played Jr high. Two of the 5 played the last 3 games hurt badly so we could finish the season.

The article stated:

"Well, things changed drastically. Right before our next game in mid-December, four players, including three talented veteran starters, suddenly decided they didn’t wish to play basketball anymore. Their decision had very little to do with anything that occurred thus far this season, so despite all kinds of efforts to get them to see the effects their decision would have, nothing changed their minds. We were down to four kids."

Interesting that when the private schools best players transfer away they end up not even being able to finish the season.

Almost like not getting out of districts when you have to play in the class that matches your 'geographic' talent pool after dominating smaller classes for decades.

P.S. Whitfield girls prove the same lesson old timers know. It is the Jimmies and Joes. (or Janie and Jans). Whitfield been winning 24-26 games a year. Lose a player or two to other schools and bam. 2 wins.

This is why anyone with half a brain realizes private schools belong in their own playoff system. Nobody will miss them.
