Not sure how close the game will be Friday night, but the atmosphere always makes the Webb-CJ game a great experience. On the field, two great teams that compete very hard and that have tremendous respect for each other. 2 towns side-by-side where several of the kids know and see each other. Same in the stands. Two fan bases that know each other and respect each other and their teams, but who are really cheering on their own teams. The competitive teams, the atmosphere, and the respect between the teams and the fans make this a great experience.
Why drive all the way to KC to play an overrated urban programWebb is 14-1 against CJ in the last 15 meetings. What is compelling about that?
Another powder puff game for Webb. Too bad they can’t come up to KC and play Fort Osage or Staley?
No, this one isn’t close. Kearney and Harrisonville both have multiple state championships AND have only played a few times in the past 20 years. So no, sorry Southwestern boys…but this one isn’t even close. Much more compelling game.
When it is Webb by 28 in the 3rd quarter, how exciting is that? After you finish picking your nose, you can go home, crack open a can of beer and watch your truck rust. That is more exciting.
Mid-late 90s were very lean times up here. I think the 2000 team went 1-9 then THAT class came along beginning in 2001. I actually remember the 1988 game it was a classic between two very good teams.Harrisonville Wildcats vs. Kearney Bulldogs (11-7)
1987 19-17 win
1988 24-22 loss
1989 28-0 loss
1990 34-7 loss

1992 24-21 win
1993 20-7 loss
1994 24-7 win
1995 40-13 win
1996 41-27 win
1997 54-3 win
1998 28-13 win
1999 29-6 win
2000 35-10 win
2001 35-10 loss

2016 21-14 win (Class 4 Show-Me Bowl)

I was a sophomore standing on the sideline for that 1988 game. I always remember the Kearney guys wearing flattops with a mullet. Now that I am a barber all these years later, and some nitwit wants a flattop with a mullet I always say, "Oh, you want the Kearney cut." Great memories.Mid-late 90s were very lean times up here. Anyone who went to HS with me would not recognize me at all today. Back in the late 1980s I was one of those "twenty somethings" with (gasp) a flattop with a mullet.I was a sophomore standing on the sideline for that 1988 game. Would no surprise me to see Beason, Weathers, and Henderson to rush for 400 yards.CJ is not the same team as last year at the jamboree they did not look as big as in the past and numbers look down. And as much as Webb fans want to hype this game it will be over by halftime. I predict Webb will run wild on CJ.
Your one of those “if a QB doesn’t win a Super Bowl he doesn’t get in the HOF”What's Carl Junction ever won? Please.
Cool new screen name: are you a dentist or miner?Your one of those “if a QB doesn’t win a Super Bowl he doesn’t get in the HOF”
Do you actually enjoy coming across like you don’t know or understand football?
Have been to a few practices I think the O-line will be good once everyone gets settled in, lost a sophomore for the season with a knee that didn’t help. First 3-4 games might be a bit shaky but come district time when it matters could be fun.WEBBs line are a question on both sides. Skill players should be OMG!!! MOSO and the respect thing, sure whatever, lol it's FOOTBALL season finally, CARDS throttle the puppies...
I didn't realize Hville had a winning record against the purple deamons.. interesting. Still taking the dawgs in this one. What kind of crowd numbers do these games draw up north. WEBB and CJ, nice weather should be 4000+..
Way back when they used to be in the same (West Central) conference. It is all about timing: Kearney was frankly woeful in the mid-late 1990s. As for crowd my guess is the K side may not be that large due to distance plus it is available on radio and webcast. I plan, as of now, to drive down and see it: haven't been to an opener since 2012!WEBBs line are a question on both sides. Skill players should be OMG!!! Webcasts have definately changed Football. When you can plug into your tv and watch on the big screen without 100 of the greatest arm chair coaches around makes it kinda nice. Plus you get the commentary and injury updates etc. I know besides a couple times a year it makes CHIEF Football more enjoyable. Young and dumb I loved the adrenaline rush from the crowd mixed with a few beverages and wow great times. Now, can't take all the biligerant drunks wanting to fight everyone, griping about every play call etc etc.Sit at home and the only one griping about Andys play calling is me!! I like and do that a lot..

Didn't the Washington Generals beat the Harlem Globetrotter's one time?14-1 makes it great for Webb fans.
60 miles. That plus Kearney is between Harrisonville and some of the worst rush hour traffic in the entire metro area.Distance???? It’s not an hour drive is it
Mapquest says it is a 55min drive including the current traffic.60 miles. That plus Kearney is between Harrisonville and some of the worst rush hour traffic in the entire metro area.
I drive that route on the way to southern MO which I frequent. Ideals and reality are two different things.........and current traffic is about 10 percent of what 435/49/the infamous triangle will be like come 5 PM.Mapquest says it is a 55min drive including the current traffic.
At noon, sure. Around 3:30-4, probably tack on another 15-20 mins easily.Mapquest says it is a 55min drive including the current traffic.
Wife could drive the Triangle daily. She drives an extra few miles each way to avoid it if she’s during the high volume times. It’ll be super nice when done, but that’s liable to be 20 yrs from now. KCs infastructure has struggled to keep up with growth in this part of the metro. Great place to live though, just need to be mindful about the route you take sometimes.I drive that route on the way to southern MO which I frequent.
