When does a high school realize football program is no longer a benefit. Springfield Central losing 88 to 0 tonight. Have lost 36 games in a row by an avg of 57 points. Have less than 35 players for class 5 school. Kids are getting beat up. Sports is suppose to be a learning experience I see no positives in this situation. Maplewood dropped football when it could no longer compete.

I was charting my Week 5 games noticed the Bolivar-Center game stood out. The Ozarks Conference needs to switch Central out and the Liberators in. Just saying..............

Plenty to discuss starting with the MEC:
1) Do you think Savannah has a shot at the Maryville machine or are the 'Hounds drawing away?
2) Where does Chillicothe stand at this point?
3) Are there any sleepers in the rest of the league?
Well to go back to make this a topic. Yes they should keep football. It teaches more to young men than one knows. Not all of it is happy and unicorns. The problem is adults. Central was in the OC. They had a hard time competing. They did the right thing and pulled them out so they could play class 1 and 2 schools. They had a little success with that. Then they put them back in the OC and I said this when they did that would be stupid. They will get throttled. The Springfield AD should lose his job over that. Now, as football goes yes keep it things are learned from losing but can you get kids to come out and compete while always losing.
Central looked like they might have turned the corner a little bit when they rejoined the OC but nope. Let them go play the Mid-Lakes, SWC schools. Bolivar would be the logical and easy choice to swap in.
1) Haven't seen Savannah yet, thought their game last night would be closer
2) Chillicothe's offense is starting to click. Seems to have have some depth at a couple postions. Few too many penalties some times
3) Watch for Cameron next year. Only 3 or 4 srs on whole roster. QB is talented, got some talent around them as well. Not gonna be world beaters, but they will be winning games next year. Kind of like Chilli last year, young, new coach, new system...
I made a pretty big stink here when SPS and the Ozark Conference agreed to add them. Just a brutal decision, and it’s not going to work out. They will be back out of the conference — again — in a matter of time, or they won’t be fielding teams.
I think the SPS AD wanted the ease of scheduling with no real thought or care about the situation, and the opposing OC schools love the idea of trading a potential loss in Joplin for a guaranteed win in most sports.
It’s not just football either, the basketball team hasn’t won a game since I don’t know when, volleyball team is brutal, the softball team is playing a Class 1 schedule in non conference and the baseball team isn’t competitive with Halfway let alone the OC.
The whole thing is a disgrace. And I’m not even going to get into what I really think other than to say I don’t see much evidence the powers that be in SPS give a rats behind about a kid at Central. You're free to use your imagination as to why I think that might be the case.

I'd really like to see Cameron return to its former glory. I remember them winning a state title back in the mid 2000s handily. Blew the competition out of the water.

2005 Cameron (forget the QB's name also believe that HC is now at Lee's Summit someone better in the know can confirm) was one of if not the highest scoring teams in MO HSFB history.
2003, his Soph year, Newhart threw for 316 yards but five interceptions in a loss 60-13 loss to Chillicothe. I remember thinking "If this kid ever figures out how to stop throwing interceptions, he's going to be incredible." he led his team to the show me bowl the next two years, winning his Senior year.
