What teams will be flying under the radar?

Salem: returns everything from a team that was very competitive. Key will be ability to defend, with no size they will need to be able to play man.
Rolla: This might be their year. Good size, good guard play, and experience.
St. James: Graduated a lot, but they have the guard play to make a run in a weakened 4 Rivers.
Eldorado Springs: Athleticism and size with strong ball handling, their Dribble Drive could cause teams fits.

Idk if you would consider some of them under the radar, but all should be good.

Central Missouri should have some teams that people might not see coming. Owensville will be a handful for people with that younger group and Finley. Like ball_fan said, St. James and Salem should both be tough outs. Obviously you have to take summer games with a grain of salt, but they are two of the teams I've heard looked good over the summer. Fatima will be solid again with their big girl. Steelville graduated quite a bit, but I've heard they still look good also. I'm not sure if any of those teams are necessarily "under the radar" though, since they are all typically pretty good. Eldon could make a jump forward, they were pretty young last year and I don't think they graduated very much.

Owensville will be an interesting team. If Finley and the young guard can carry them offensively they could make waves.

Eldon would be my pick as the team to really surprise people. They have young talent and did not graduate much.

Both teams have the point guard play to cause teams headaches.

Salems style will cause a lot of teams issues but I am not sure that they will be able to keep the better teams off the glass.

Another team that I think will be making some noise is Montgomery County. A fastpaced style combined with a pile of experienced older players will make them a tough out for anyone.

Forgot about Owensville, Finley is a legit player the Daniels girl is very athletic. Also, they have some Freshmen that might be able to make an immediate impact. But their lack of size is concerning. They are intriguing because of how much they return and add.

Eldon has a strong PG and if the players surrounding her can show an ability to contribute they could be dangerous.

Montgomery County seems like one of those teams that has 16-19 wins, but will struggle against good competition because the EMO is not what it once was. They would benefit more by playing in the Cannon.

Columbia Hickman might turn some heads, they are coached extremely well and they are very long and strong. The CMAC is tough but they should be more competitive.

Fatima graduated a good amount of perimeter scoring but they always seem to replace shooters with more shooters. They also have a 6'0" guard who can accompany their 6'2" center.

Steelville has a lot of hurdles, new coach (previously assistant) and graduation of key pieces. The big question there is does the 1-3-1 have the same effectiveness without Coach Collins.

Ava is a team to keep an eye on in the SCA.

Salem will be alright, but until they learn to defend better they will not be a threat

Southern Boone. 4-0 on young season. Beat Rolla #5 in C5 by 18, beat Blair Oaks #10 in C4 by double figures. Won TCC tourney all by double digits. They have size, shooters, playmakers, they are physical and they will guard you all night long! They will have a good test at Helias tomorrow.

Fair Grove has the goods in 9th grade. Are they ready?? i say yes.
I don't think Fair Grove is flying under the radar anymore. Beating West Plains by 14 showed how good they are. They play Miller tonight in an interesting matchup. Fair Grove is gonna want to get up and down the floor and have the score in the 60's. Miller wants to play half court and keep the score in the 40's.

Beating WP without Judd for most of the game is not really that impressive. FG is a good team this year, but that win is not that impressive when you know the circumstances.

Under the radar: Mvbt Liberty Lady Eagles have to be the favorite in that district. Beat Doniphan and played with Ellington. Liberty, Mansfield, Licking, Houston, Hartville, Thayer... district is at Houston. I'm taking Mvbt vs Houston for the ship!

Liberty the favorite? Nah. Not while Licking is there. Licking will be in the ship, the question is against who. It could be any of those other teams.

Helias will be interesting to see if their coach can get them ready to play after the first loss of the season. He has a highly rated player and have yet to see him do anything to help her not be doubled and even tripled! Rock Bridge, Fatima, Boonville, JC, West Plaiins, etc find a way to get the ball to their top players. Not so sure, Helias knows how to do this.

More ways to help the team if she is getting doubled and tripled teamed.

I think some folks that aren't familiar with Delta are gonna be surprised this year. They look to be legit after blowing out Neelyville. We'll know for sure when they square off against defending state champ Ellington and play in the Holiday Classic in Cape soon.

Definitely a team to keep an eye on. But I dont think Neelyville is where it normally is. They lost to a below average Alton team.

I don't know much about Delta except that both the boys and girls team apparently play at a furious pace. Many scores in the 100's by both them and their opponents in the last few seasons.

But I also know that girls bball in the southeast part of the state isn't very good compared to other parts of the state. Yes, there are exceptions, like Ellington, but generally speaking of course.

Like I said, we'll know more after they face Ellington which just lost last night to by two to South Iron who knocked out Delta last year and the Holiday Classic tourney which includes Notre Dame. Their boys team lost pretty much everybody and is just average now so all eyes are on the girls team.

Liberty and Houston might be improved, but there's no way I'm picking against Licking at this point in the season. If somehow Licking falls apart throughout the season I might change my mind, but that district goes through Licking until a mountain of evidence tells me otherwise.

Licking has cemented their status as the favorite here. Mansfield, Hartville, and Liberty will battle it out to see who plays Licking in the ship

Counting Houston out here may be a missed call, 3-point loss to Licking at home already this year, and they host the district. They've got Liberty, Thayer, and Hartville coming up on their schedule.

Possibly. If they can go 2-1 against those 3 teams then I will change my opinion, and add them back to the mix
