Too many concussions now days to do the smash mouth football...Camdenton during the Bob Shore days was really something. They always had the JOD rocking. Sad what they have become over the last 10 years. They use to be a physical run team that would out hit and out physical people. Finesse football is their game now, and they have never been the same. I miss the good old days.

Interesting, how did they come up with these numbers did somebody turn them in to somebody or did the site actually do the research?
Camdenton switched because they have had a string of elite to above average arms at the quarterback position. DeLaurent, Shore and Durnin brothers better play to what you got. They have used more power running formations this year, would expect them to go back more that directionCamdenton during the Bob Shore days was really something. They always had the JOD rocking. Once you get an entire 10-12 year run of kids out of a hard hitting smash mouth system, it’s a tough road back.Camdenton switched because they have had a string of elite to above average arms at the quarterback position. You will not find consistent information prior to 1920. I have found mentions and scores from the 1900s and 1910s, even back to the 1890s but because of the inconsistencies I made the decision to keep my archive from 1920 to present.Great question, I was curious myself ... especially since I am in the middle of a research project on Carl Junction football. I have every score, opponent, date and location of every Carl Junction game from 1920-present.
I have been working on 1910-1919 ... found some scores from 1916 and 1917, but a lot of gaps still to fill. The hard part was trying to find the year Carl Junction started a high school. Earlier this fall, had a breakthrough as a resident of the community showed me a graduation announcement from 1903, she said it was from the first ever graduation class from Carl Junction High School. Which means the earliest possible football team they could have had was fall of 1902. Working toward filling in the gap from 1902-1920.
Anvil Welch has been a HUGE help, he has kept team records for football, basketball and baseball in Southwest Missouri since his days at the Springfield News Leader back in the 1960's. He has records from high schools that don't even exist today. He still works on his records daily and is not afraid to call schools and coaches to pick their brains about teams, records and anything sports related.
A few years back (2013), was able to help my alma mater Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville uncover a record book from the school vault that had every head coach and team record for football since the start of the program in 1899. I'm working on the baseball records for Field Kindley now.

Same with me I have not found all records, but I keep finding more as I search. I have Monett around 590 wins.Great question, I was curious myself ... especially since I am in the middle of a research project on Carl Junction football. When I've seen people talk about the current Kearney Defense being the most physical they have ever seen, I remember seeing those 90s and early 2000's Lakers defenses absolutely smother people. Those were some of the best I've been lucky enough to watch.Camdenton during the Bob Shore days was really something. They always had the JOD rocking. In the late 1800's/early 1900's it was common for newspapers to only report scores when their local team won. However, there were not a bunch of high school teams playing back then, and travel would have been difficult, so it is possible that there were weeks when a team simply didn't play a game. This makes research of the early days incredibly difficult. You will not find consistent information prior to 1920. Then you have to ask the question of what counts as a high school game? They played clubs, church groups, civic organizations, college JV teams, etc. That part gets tricky. Add to it the war. Many stopped playing. If they did play, many papers stopped reporting on them with more pressing issues. There used to be a guy from Harrisonville and a guy from Chillicothe on here who had extensive archives and history on those programs established before I started. Easily the most extensive archive. If they’re still around I would like to hear their thoughts on pre-1920 history.
That’s the most Carl Junction thing I have heard all day.Another question has piqued my curiosity ... would MSHSAA ever be interested in having all-time scores and history added to the website in some way, shape or form? I have already been told the CJ district is not interested in the research that has been done (the actual phrase used was "skeptical of the work being done") therefore what I'm working may not be of any interest to anyone but myself, Anvil Welch and a few others who work on sports history projects.
Also, I would be remiss not to thank those of you on this message board for your help when I struggled to find a score, box score or missing piece of information. I really do appreciate those of you who have contributed any and all help and if I can ever help someone with a project, please let me know how I can pay it forward.
Yes they were … got everything from the programs tenure in the SVC.CJ was in the Spring Valley Conference with Pierce City, Galena, Seneca, Carterville, Sarcoxie among others in the 60's.

Updated information through the 2024 season which ended last night for Harrisonville.
I began working on the history of Harrisonville Wildcat football back in 2003. I have every score, schedule, awards such as team awards, All-Conference, All-District, All-State, team awards etc. I also have extensive information on all player's that went on to play at the college level. I have tracked our state, conference and district titles. I have every head coach and assistant coach that has been affiliated with our program. The three greatest things that have come out of my research are that our alumni are able to enjoy the information and history, that I was able to submit all my information to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame to get our football program inducted and have been able to be appointed chairman of the Harrisonville Wildcats Football Hall of Fame committee. We have inducted over 40 player's since it began in 2015. What started as a personal project at the county library looking at microfilm has turned into something more than I ever thought it would.🏈💯
