It used to be pretty competitive but the last couple years it has felt like a one horse conference, especially this year. Its been a couple years since OG has been competitive, Hville and Pleasant Hill have fallen off overnight Excelsior has been improved but plays nobody nonconference, and Warrensburg is just middle of the pack it seems like for the last couple years and especially this year Odessa is the only real contender in the conference. I just seems like a far cry from where the conference was a few years ago, with multiple contenders in multiple classes.

In all fairness Warrensburg did win Class 4 District 7 but grant they got it handed to them in Smithville in the Quarterfinal. You are correct it appears Odessa has a pretty easy track to going 9-0 overall and sweeping the West. Given Maryville has moved down to Class 2 gotta think the Bulldogs are on track to, at a minimum, play for the Class 3 title if not win it all. One interesting twist to that, though, could be a dangerous quarterfinal hosting Savannah.

I did watch most of the Excelsior-Harrisonville game was not impressed at all with the Tigers. That rushing offense will get stopped cold by Smithville in particular and they basically have no passing game. Harrisonville still could make the Class 4 District 7 final BUT I am becoming more and more convinced Grain Valley is a serious favorite in that one.

By the way and for what little it is likely worth BUT I am still very much on board with the Wildcats joining the Suburban Blue Conference.........

I agree credit where credit is due Warrensburg has done a tremendous job of turning things around but I didn't consider them a contender ever. But most years since the split there were almost always two teams that were considered contenders. Usually Harrisonville and one of GV , OG, Odessa or Pleasant Hill with at least a third a quarterfinal threat. Is it just the offenses haven't kept up with the times or just a down year overall in the conference.

HC Smith left Pleasant Hill. Have to think (last night's very valiant effort aside) that is the main reason why the Roosters have been down so far this season.

I can't see Head coaching change accounting for an 0-5 start I would guess there is a serious talent deficit to cause such a drop off. Did they lose a lot of seniors? Same thing with Harrisonville and Oak Grove I heard they were really young last year but in the past it was more of a reload than a rebuild there.

Sorry the contest is OVER................I still cannot make up my mind between about 25-30 of the GIFs from the past week. We sure have some comedians in our lot here on MOSports!

My bad, Bosko. I swear I am not a hijacker............
Hey bigoher74 my beloved Chiefs need some blind side help! Eric Fisher may be out for the remainder of the regular season..............and beyond.

This thread has gone the way of the MRVC West
Here I will help get us back on track:

1) Odessa - by a mile and a half
2) Harrisonville - saw just enough to encourage this rating last night
3) Warrensburg - was all in for second then last night happened
4) Excelsior Springs - will have a winning season but D8 won't end well
5) Oak Grove - MUCH improved but still lots of holes to fill
6) Pleasant Hill - was last night a Thursday anomaly?

Looking at Calpreps all the teams except warrensburg and excelsior have played decently tough schedules so maybe i'm overreacting and it looks like Harrisonville played through a gauntlet. Oak grove had a huge win over lawson and competed with blair oaks. Pleasant hill has lost 4 close ones though they were all games they would've won handily the last couple years so maybe those teams have just really improved. Excelsior plays the softest schedule in the metro. I couldn't find warrensburgs stuff on there though I probably just missed it and Odessa is just really good.
