Bahahahahaha.

Based on western missouri logic for the past dozen years, yesterdays results mean every single team in the east is now better than the west. Its just a better brand of football. And how many spread teams won championships? Looks like ground and pound is OUT. Those teams are soft.

Wrong.... about the spread if you think it's all throwing. They're allowed to run it too. Lol. They can and run it very well.

I don't think that's ever been the Wests logic. Though posters have rubbed that in as the reason.

Revenge knee-jerk judgment is off target a little. It's more likely that Westside has regressed than any great progress made in the East. The West taught the East how to throw it.

The Eastside was once dominant for a number of years. Then it ossified and became rigid allowing for the Westside innovation to pass the East.

As I remember it, the West seemed more committed to practicing more. Lol. The East has decided in order to catch the West, they have to beat them at their own game.

The Wests deterioration is difficult to articulate. It remains to be seen if it will last. Perhaps things are now as they should be when comparing KC Football to St. Louis.

I chuckle when wingnut teams still make the final. When a team can consistently run by a corner on a fade, dink, and dunk a curl-flat concept, why bother with a system?

My answer is you can look worse when you lose, prolong the agony or cause more damage by trying something you don't have the athletes to execute, or you literally can't play pitch and catch.

WELL- THE LAST 10 YEARS (even if you included the clean sweep this year). CLASSES 1 - 6 THERE HAVE BEEN 60 CHAMPIONS

35 have come from the West. That's 58%.

A long way to go to catch up.

A thought experiment on the concept of bragging about how much “D-I talent” a team or side of the state or metro area has:
I came up with what I believe is an apt analogy: bragging about the athletic talent on your team, etc. is equivalent to bragging about winning the lottery. It’s cool that you won the lottery, and now you have a bunch of money......but it is either pure chance (you won the genetic lottery) or it’s rigged (you stacked the genetic lottery); essentially, what you are saying is “We are good because of pure chance or because we stacked the deck.”
I’m interested in the arguments could be made against this, so let the mature, informed, well-reasoned responses flow forth from this source, nay, this fount of knowledge known as Mosports, preferably in as pompous a manner as the above.

Funny, straight facts are somehow "pompous?" St. Louis won about 33% of the championships over this same time. Is it pompous to point that out?

I'm not even sure how to respond; you missed the point entirely. I was referring to the "we have 10 D-I players, etc., ad nauseam" posters. Further, I was referring to my own pompous diction in the post. I thought it'd be obvious, guess not. Not everything on here is about you, man.

Then don't paste in my quote?

Instead of having a worthless ks-mo showdown week in kc, where Missouri wins like 10 out of 12 games, maybe we should have a kc v stl showdown week?

What is the breakdown of championships between east and west by class? What is the total number of football playing schools east vs. West by class? Comparing those two sets of data would be interesting.

Actually I would rather see KC metro top programs do what CBC, Vianney, Trinity and a few others did.............get real daring and schedule NATIONAL powerhouses.

Where do you draw the line? East/West? Jeff City count for the East? Columbia? Camdenton is the West? The West has won 15 of the past 17 championships in Class 4. The West has won 10 of the past 17 championships in Class 6.

For the most that is true. If you take Webb and Lamar out of the equation, Southwest Missouri football is not very good right now, or in the past 5 or 6 years. There are some isolated teams that pop up occasionally. The teams from the metro areas are always going to have more natural physical talent. The key for the rural teams has been superior coaching over the years. I watched Cardinal Ritter play 2 weeks ago. They had 4 or 5 naturally gifted kids, who could out-athlete their opponent. Then we saw what happened to them when they ran into an opponent that also had some athletic kids, plus a couple of linemen who could actually move a bit. Good teams do not get beat by 4 scores at any time.

I guess I need you to define not very good.
In class one the SWMO team usually gets beat by Valle......same as everyone else.
In class two the other class two SWMO teams usually play Lamar their best game in the playoffs (Ava/Liberty/Strafford).
In class 3 Monett, Rogersville, and Cassville have won titles recently with several more 2nd places.
In class four who knows how many titles CJ or Carthage would have if not for Webb.
In class 5 Carthage has lost to the champs the last 2 years and I think Nixa did the year before.
Class six you got me since there are only 2 class six schools in SWMO it is hard to be dominant.
Some of that is outside the last 6 years but most is not.

Perhaps we just have a different definition of what constitutes a good team. If a team can play at a consistently high level, against high level competition, then I would consider them good. The problem is that there are very few of those type of teams in this area. Each year, there are teams that have a good record against average competition, and declare themselves good. Conjecture about Carthage, or CJ, is just that. The fact is neither of them has won a state title recently. The class 3 schools you mentioned have had 1-2 year windows, where they were above average. Until this year, class 3 has not required a team to be really good to make the semi's, and in some cases even the finals, for a few seasons. I may be wrong, but consistency over a long period of time matters.

Just looking at 2017 alone, your 5-6 year theory gets blown out of the water.

Carthage #7 in Class 5
CJ # 3 in Class 4
Camdenton #9 Class 4
Reed Springs #6 in C3
Eldon #7 C3
and Seneca #8 in C3

SW Missouri

Rankings really don't mean a thing. My discussion is about actual level of play overall. Seneca and Reeds were completely one dimensional. Didn't realize Eldon and Camdenton were in Southwest Mo. Eldon was not good at all, when I saw them play. Did not see Camdenton play. People get too wrapped up in records, and rankings. instead of watching what is really happening on the field.
