Well the sun came up in Webb City today

After having some time to process the craziness of that game I'll share my thoughts. It was exactly what we expected. A hard hitting defensive battle. Kudos to Kearney's defense on forcing so many turnovers. Its hard to win a game when you have a -4 turnover margin. Webb's defense played well in the first half but then really turned it on in the second half. As with a majority of the season we relied heavily on our defense to play extraordinarily well. Kearney's kicker really impressed me. If not for his 50+ish yard FG that game could have gone into overtime. I'm not going to complain about officiating because it is what it is. Coach Roderique said after the CJ game "Sometimes there is a fine line between winning and losing" and that definitely applies to this game. If only a couple of things has bounced our way the game would have been different but alas you only get one crack at it in football. Congratulations to Kearney on an outstanding season and win. I hate losing to you guys but you deserve it for making a few more plays than us. That being said I think if those teams played 10 times it'd be an even 5-5 split.

Yep there were calls on both sides that created problems for the teams. I think a hugely understated loss for Webb was Potts being injured on that first punt return. If he plays the game may have been different. But we'll never know.

After an evening of letting it soak in I had a completely different take than you Joseph. Although biased towards WEBB I believe I am one of the more brutally honest WEBB posters about our performances. You base the Dline off the first quarter performance? LOL, WEBB did lose their starting tailback on Kearneys first punt after a 3 and out. Guessing that muffed up JRODs scheme right off the bat. With that being said Im a huge Vanlue fan (backup), dont know the young man or his family just like how he runs the ball. I think WEBBs dline was much better in the second half, personally. As far as the Roderique fumble, who knows? I replayed and you cant see the ball but can see the scrum comes after he hit the ground when it came out I nor you have any idea. The reason the ref on the WEBB side made the call over the other guys, UHM Joseph the ball was ran to his side of the field, he would have had the best view. Now as far as what ifs. I believe all the Kearney scores came after WEBB turnovers. Not uncommon in the game of Football you make mistakes teams capitalize on it. Scores that standout to me, Burroughs had a 58 yard scoring run called back on a hold, Kearney kicked a field goal but took the points off the board because of a late hit by WEBB on the kicker. They inturn ran a few plays and scored a TD. Their only score of the second half. WEBB ran and passed the ball well the entire second half but mainly in the 4th. Going 70 yards to the one, Burroughs fumbled in the endzone turning a score into a turnover. WEBB then held 3 and out and marched down the field again capped off by a 3 yard scamper by Roderique for the score. And again stopped Kearney on downs forcing a punt. WEBB then marched down the field a 3rd time in the 4th and once again fumbled going into the endzone from the one for the go ahead score by Vanlue thus ending the game. Dont remember any Kearney scores being taken off the board by penalty calls nor lost scores because of turning the ball over. WEBB had 3 scores lost from those plus because of penalty gave Kearney aTD instead of a field goal. Thats 4 plays/mistakes by WEBB that had any one of them not been made WEBB would have won. With that I think your case of this amazing beatdown you act like happened is ridiculous. Kearney won congrats to them and realize most at WEBB know Kearney has a great program and will always be a tough out, but after all the mistakes WEBB made they still only lost by 3 and passed on a field goal to tie with 24 seconds left and went for the win. Mistake free and yes Kearney caused some of the mistakes but not the holding by a reciever away from the play on Burroughs 58 yarder, or the late hit on the kicker changing 3 into 7 or the handoff not being completed by Roderique to Vanlue and WEBB wins comfortably. It was no where near the colossal beat down you act like it was.

That #66 for Kearney (nose tackle) Louis Etuale was a big plug in the middle for that defense. The defense as a whole was good at swarming, but he stood out to me.

I was very impressed with the toughness and fight from both teams though. That Vanlue (minus fumble) looks tough and probably will be hell for opposing teams next yr.

Yeah it seems like he was involved in every play their defense made. Very good d lineman.

The still photos shown on ozarks sports zone show the ball was out on the Roderique fumble/no fumble. Webb definitely hurt their chances with the mistakes. If not for them, we wouldn't be talking about the Kearney D.
