Webb City vs. Republic

Its hard to ever pick against Webb, but RepMo seems to be hitting their stride at the right time... Not real confident but give me the ole pumpkin heads in a close one.

Webb, they just beat a very talented GV team that tested their defense in ways Noone else has and they only get better from that. Repmo may be hitting a stride but it won't be enough

Webb. Republic needed 2 onside kicks and a kick off return to beat Helias.

WC fairly comfortably. They better be practicing their hands team though this week. It was baaaaaad against GV. They were lucky to have recovered the ball.

Agree closer than the first game but Webb does owe them for knocking them out last year. Other side of this Class 5 bracket, by the way, looks to be not one bit close.

Didn't Repmo also use the onside kick thing to edge Webb City last year? You can only ride that horse for so long.

I'll go out on a limb and take Webb City by at least 2 scores. Republic is good but I don't think they will be as difficult to contain as GV was. GV had their chances, they are a superb team, I'd argue the best Webb has faced, but they still came out 2 scores behind.

I might be underestimating Republic but I don't see a path for them to win this game. Even if Webb opens the game with a fumble and then throws a pick on the next posession I do'nt think Republic will be able to keep up with them for 4 full quarters.

This will be a good game but if Webb City is ready for the onside kicks.. WC by 2 scores.

I was talking to a Webb coach the other day and I basically said at this point don't you just have to put the hands team in every kickoff ? He didn't really give me an exact answer . Hopefully they don't score enough for it to matter tho . Last year Webb had full control at the half and repmo got two onside kicks and some long passes to pull ahead then run away with it . I'd consider that win a fluke but it wouldn't have mattered bc Carthage would have beat Webb the next week regardless. They were damn good last year

I know last week Webb had Johnson and Jackson deep for kicks which they typically don't do . Kicking to either of those guys is a bad idea . Grain Valley was hip to that and pooched it to around the 20

If Republic doesn't recover an onside kick they give Webb the ball at the 50. I guess they figure good chance the other team scores anyway so it really doesn't matter where they start from??

Webb by whatever they want, and it pains me to say that. Johnson is the real deal at QB. RepMo squeaked out a couple of close ones this year (Carthage, Willard, Helias last week) and Webb is going to be keyed up for this one on Saturday.

Does it really matter who wins this game with the 50-foot-tall Cardinal Ritter waiting next week?

I think Webb will lose to Ritter but I wouldn't bet anything substantial on it.

I'll say Republic wins by 7. Republic won't have two straight turnovers and down 14-0 like they did the first time these two teams met. Plus, Republic has a feel similar to the above-mentioned 1989 WC Cardinals that beat Sumner. Republic 2023 feels like a "team of destiny."

Republic was my C5 longshot since the playoffs began but there are a couple of factors that do not favor them......................should be one of many very fun ones tomorrow, though!

Good close game. Changed an onside kock call twice but overall hard played. Republics seniors wanted it more.
