I believe this one will be close with WC winning by 2tds. Carthage lost a little of their momentum from the 2 win jamboree performance.

Webb 35.................Carthage 7

done deal

Webb 42-14

Wall was single handily blowing up plays stopping Webbs running game last week. Didn't see anyone on defense for Carthage capable of doing that

cards roll

I feel like for the second week in a row, Webb will be playing in the game of the week. I think that the outcome will be very similar to the Webb vs Carl game but maybe a little higher scoring on both sides somewhere close to 34-20 I'd say. Webb has to make sure the Arkell Smith kid doesn't get behind them as he probably has the most big play potential for Carthage. I would imagine there's still some indigestion hanging around in the Webb City locker room from seeing someone else win the conference for the first time in ages. That, the fact that they are playing in Webb, and the amount of experience returning on both sides of the ball, leads me to give the advantage to Webb. We could see Carthage fall back to the .500 mark at 2-2 after turbo clocking their jamboree a few weeks ago. Hopefully they won't mind playing on such an outdated field. ;)

Webbs got to get back to basics. The blue jerseys and red pants really suck, lucky we won at all last week. Need to come out in the classic Red Jerseys and baby blue pants tonight if we want to extend this streak to 2-0

I heard that there was some sort of shipping error and they had to use the combo that they wore last friday because the regular ones didn't come in time. We'll see what they are wearing on Friday I guess lol.

Saw some pics of the game online. Yikes, those are terrible! Looks like Glendale!

Yeah I am not a fan of the new uniform styles. That might just be me showing my age at this point though. lol
I saw some photos and like the fact that they are kind of unique.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but historically I thought Webb City was red and white, with the columbia blue used only sparingly as an accent in limited occasion. Over the last decade or two they seem to have shifted to a color scheme more like Glendale where both colors are featured prominently. I wonder if that shift started when the football team introduced the blue pants. That was really the first I can remember seeing the blue used prominently.

The blue was added back in the 60's and caused quite the uproar in the community. For many years it was only used for 9th grade home jerseys. Not sure when we started the blue pants be a good question for beatwriter

I was going to say, I thought it was sometime around or right after 2000.

It was a big topic of discussion back in those days. Like so many things today, everyone seemed to be firmly in one camp or the other, personally I thought they were kind of cool. Seemed like older people (who were in high school in the 60s or before) and players didn't like them, but for totally different reasons. Older people didn't like the color being used period. Players thought they looked silly. Everyone in between seemed to think they were OK!

I'm not a huge fan of the blue jerseys, when I was in school we were red and white and I know blue was in the color scheme but don't remember it being used much at all. The blue jerseys from 2012 were aweful. The blue jersey and blue pants from Halloween night 2012 were GAWD awful.
That being said the new jerseys are very nice! Numbers and stripes are stitched on and text is embroidered. I had a chance to see them up close this summer and I really like them. Red pants are gross and if they come out Friday with red on red I will vomit.

I personally hate the new uniforms . They are uber ugly ...let's save money on new uniforms and get Louisville helmets from last year ...BC those were SWEET!

With the squared off numbers ...they are also hard to read from a far...then again ...i have very poor eyesight

I started a grass-roots campaign for those last spring. It was a short lived campaign lol.

Lol I remember you bringing that up in the podcast and coach Rod admitting that they were awesome...but they didnt have a budget for that

I think it's interesting to find out how many people have opinions on the teams fashion! I agree though, I don't care for those or any jersey with techy looking number. With the exception of the home jerseys that Carthage has used the last season or two. I actually do like those.

If Carthage avoids the mistakes of week 1, I believe they can make it a game. Most likely scenario I think Carthage will have some good drives, find the end zone a few times, but struggle to consistently contain WC and get ahead. I think WC might be able to score a little more because I didn't see a big defensive play maker for Carthage.

So my initial guess is WC 35-20. But if either team makes mistakes, it's anybody's game. Should be a good one. Webb City starting out their season by hosting maybe the two biggest games of the year in this area.

Looking at some film from last year, Webb was able to move the ball on the ground, but with fumbles and mistakes they couldn't get it in the end zone - having the ball at the end of the first half on the one and not scoring was a huge set back. So, this year, I believe that Webb still pounds the ball on them and gets in the end zone this year, but they'll have to stop Arkel Smith. He's the real deal. They stopped Lubbers, so if they can hold him down, Webb eliminates a big threat and can handle C-town.

They had the blue pants back in the early 80's when Coach Rod was playing. Used the blue pants as practice pants middle to late 80's when I played and we had white game pants. Blue wasn't even an accent color on the game uniforms until after 2000 sometime...

It was a single stripe on the sleeves in the 90s.

It might have had some color differences mid 90's. My experience with remembering uniforms is from 84' to 94'. They did have blue game pants in the early 80's then abandoned them until whenever Coach Rod brought them back, apparently in 99'.
