Webb 48-10 start of 4th

I was at this game and IMHO, although Webb won big, this is nowhere close to being the Webb caliber teams they've had in the past. Pretty small and not nearly as physical. Willard was just really bad and they even made Webb look pretty average at times. Several of Webb's touchdowns were just extremely bad defense by Willard, not an overpowering Webb offense as they've had in the past. Not a Webb hater, just calling it as I saw it.

Hmmmm.......I guess that beating everyone by more than 14 and the 1st team defense giving up a combined 22 points through 4 games is not impressive. 2 of the teams were ranked in their class. So they are giving up 5.25 points per game and that number will drop by the end of the season. You are right it must be that everyone else is horrible. They should probably cancel the remainder of their football schedule.

I keep hearing that they aren't as good, and maybe that is true. But isn't it kind of Webb City's thing to win games like this even when they are undersized and maybe not as fast as their opponents? That is what I find impressive about them, or rather their program. The ability to utilize talent where they've got it, develop skill and discipline where they don't, and combine that with great coaching (and an incredibly deep roster) to beat opponents that have in some cases a significant physical advantage.

Willard as I have commented before, seems to be the exact opposite, at least in the last few seasons. I sometimes look at their size and speed and wonder why they don't win more games.

WC this year is neither not as fast nor undersized vs most of their opponents. I would say the D-line is a little smaller this year than recent years but definitely is quick and can get after the QB. I wouldn't classify this team as the most athletic I've seen in recent years nor are they the least athletic. Now I will say IMO the most overrated aspect of a football team is how big it's players are. If they are big AND athletic that is one thing but if you only get to choose one there is no choice to make.

There are definitely a few areas where the team can definitely improve but if this talk is based on WC not just rolling over CJ and Carthage to start the season I think both of those opponents are being shortchanged.

If you had a clue you could go back and read that I am just having fun with him and I know he is not from CJ.

I think Webb City's defense is as good as ever but their offense is below what they have had in the past.

The biggest difference from this years team as years past that I see is the OL play mainly. It's early in the year still but they seem to lack the physicality up front. We've got good athletes and if the OL can play a lil more physical and more aggressive no one in C4 can hang with them.

I'm interested in how Webb fares against Pittsburg this week. The Purple Dragons are stronger than last year and I expect them to do much better against both the Cardinals and CJ. Frankly, they seem to be the biggest threat against Webb City running the table before the district semis.

You might be right and fortunately for WC, it won't really matter since they aren't in the same conference, district or state. I do think it could be a good game though. I've always enjoyed this particular game when it happens.

Agreed, WC rushed for 472 last week against Willard. A good WC O-line goes for 550 or 600.

Oh it would matter. A Webb loss means a lower district seed should somebody like West Plains go 9-0. I'm sure Webb fans would rather be at home for districts than drive to WP.

No teams are ever as good as past teams this early! Especially in places where they have really good coaches and are known for having good programs. Because at those programs every year you have a lot of Seniors starting for the first time. Just be patient, The cream always rises to the top. That coach hasn't won all those games by accident!

I am not a Webbie, That's just my opinion!
