Weak Scheduling

Looks to me like Hillsboro and Cape Central (both 1 pt wins) gave Sikeston a great deal more problems than St Louis schools. No way that can be true though

I think the Bulldog was hungry today. Might be the biggest shock I have had this postseason reading that score.

Hillsboro and Cape are two of the top teams in the state. Sikeston had a very tough draw just to get to the quarterfinal. Hillsboro would have given St. Mary's all they wanted. Very underrated team.

I agree MFloyd. But unless they are a well known program they aren’t a respectable opponent according to metro

Sikeston had a great game plan and played well. The Sikeston fans appear to be happy as they should be but it could be short lived if Kansas City Grandview 26-3 comes to play @ 6:00 PM next Friday evening.

Grandview's has been defeated by Raytown South 66-65----class 5 Liberty North ( Both teams teams will be in Springfield next week.

Hillsboro played in the Parkway West Tournament starting in January 22, 2018. They lost all 3 games.

1-22-18-------Rockwood Lafayette 13-14 record----defeated Hillsboro 66-65
1-24-18------Parkway West-----------7-19 record---- defeated Hillsboro 46-41
1-26-18------Parkway South----------18-9 record----defeated Hillsboro 73-73

It is difficult to explain how Hillsboro played Sikeston to a one point game after viewing the above.

It is difficult to explain how St, Mary's could defeat Vashon, Chaminade, Charleston, CBC and other top teams in St. Louis-Illinois and play so bad against Sikeston however credit must be given to Sikeston for their game plan execution, effort, fan participation and having Fred on the team.

A side note----Grandview has won their sectional and quarters by big numbers.

Sectional---Defeated Rolla 62-39
Quarters----Defeated Logan-Rogersville 81-46

Any prediction when class 4 Southest Missouri 27-2 meets class 4 Kansas City 26-3 next Friday?

Because your old, tired argument of schedule being the "be all, end all" is shot to crap. Walnut Grove played BY FAR the best schedule of all Class 1 teams but didn't win it all. Maybe because Eminence was just better. Didn't matter who they played. They were better. Just like Vashon was better the last two years. They had better players than everybody else. Two Division I 6-8 dudes is hard to contend with. Along with six other collegiate players. But I digress. Same old dumb argument. Different year.

Maybe player acquisition or recruiting is the key to it all. Hard to imagine how all that talent seems to wind up in the same schools year after year.

mfloyd, teams must bring their A-game in a play off system or it's your last game. St. Mary's did not do that today and their season ended ( Give credit to Sikeston ). Most coaches will disagree with you on the scheduling thing but today you were correct. St. Mary's played a much tougher schedule then Sikeston but lost to the Bulldogs. I'm sure Sikeston's opponent Kansas City Grandview played a tougher then Sikeston this year. If Grandview defeats Sikeston does that mean it's the schedule or the Bulldogs did not bring their A-Game?

SEMO747883, Can you name a high school basketball who had 3-4 or 5 new players enroll this year?

Metro Sikeston players and coaches had far more to do with how St Mary played than them not playing their A game , Sikeston out played , out hustled , and most of all out coached them and it wasn’t even close. Scheduling had nothing to do with it , if you can’t bring your A game to the state quarterfinals then that’s on your team and coaching Staff.

According to maxpreps Sikeston's schedule is tougher than Grandview's. These are the Class 4 rankings by maxpreps prior to the quarterfinal games. The first number is the team's record and the second number is strength of schedule. The higher the number, the stronger the schedule. So according to this, Sikeston played the fourth toughest schedule in Class 4. I'm sure metro disagrees with the computers though.

1 St. Mary's (St. Louis) 27-3 16.3
2 Grandview 25-3 13.4
3 Sikeston 26-2 13.5
4 Vashon (St. Louis) 21-6 17.8
5 Raytown South (Raytown) 22-6 14.5
6 Rolla 25-4 12.0
7 Jennings 23-3 11.2
8 Central (Cape Girardeau) 23-5 12.0
9 Logan-Rogersville (Rogersville) 23-5 10.7
10 Parkway Central (Chesterfield) 18-3 9.6
11 Confluence Prep Academy (St. Louis) 22-5 10.0
