1. Nixa -- Going to be at the top for a while.
2. Webb City -- Still Webb and has athletes...unsure about the new HC.
3. Republic -- Proved to a lot of people last year that they could win the big games...we'll see how consistent they are this year.
4. Joplin -- One of the best TE's and RB's returning in the conference.
5. Carthage -- Loses numerous multi-year starters.
6. Willard -- If they are going to win games, this may be the last year for them to do it for a while.
7. Neosho -- They lose one of the top WR's and RB's in the area.
8. Ozark -- Unsure how the new guy from Chicago will fare. He was on his way out up there and somehow landed in Ozark. I don't think the athletes are there.
9. Carl Junction -- I think the athletes are there...but I don't know how they will adjust to a totally new system.
10. Branson -- They will be bad for a little while longer.

My guess is the the eagles will be at the top, either one. They've both got good coaching and massive rosters with good talent. Nixa I believe is losing a couple very key seniors so it may be Joplin this year?

After that it's less clear. Carthage, Republic, Webb City are my next grouping but I could see any of them 3rd and any of them 5th or possibly even 6th.

Carthage traditionally gets it done but they do lose a TON of experience. I think they've got a good group coming in but there may be a learning curve and they may get pushed around by some of the bigger more experienced teams and maybe a couple others.

Webb City is Webb City and they never seem to run out of talent, even last year with an astounding amount of injuries they were still dang good by anyone else's standards. Some younger kids got a lot of experience last year so that will help them this year. Not really sure how much effect the new HC will have. I think less than some are hoping. Everything else is still in place and his supporting cast is elite. I think they will be good maybe great but likely still lose a couple games. I believe there is a chance they could move back down to C4 this year.

Republic clearly became one of the best COC teams by the end of the season and earned the right to be listed along side WC and Carthage, I just don't know yet if this is an established program or a flash in the pan team like Willard had several years ago. My gut says look out for them.

Neosho also looked pretty good last year but they have done that before and it hasn't lasted. Regardless, until they get better on D they aren't winning many or any games with the above listed teams. And they need to learn how to beat willard.

Ozark, Branson, Carl and Willard all have newish coaches or systems and I doubt any of them move out of the bottom half. I do think Branson will be the most improved within this group compared to last year though.

But who knows. Could be one of those seasons with some surprises. Republic could own the COC. Coach Mac could start his tenure with a state trophy. Or they could lose 5 games. Everyone thinks Nixa will be great but who knows maybe they go in with too much confidence and start 0-3.

I would flip the top two, with Nixa winning the league. Otherwise, I agree with your ranking.

From what I've heard, Webb City is going to be in Class 5 for a long time.

I think Joplin will win the league this year and then start a slow talent decline.

I don't know if CJ will improve but I do think the new coach is a better fit for the current QB

Long term they probably will be and should be but last time I looked at the breakdown they were barely in C5 and there were several other schools that I believe could outpace them in short term enrollment growth.

It just looked more likely they would move down the list a few notches vs up, assuming the classification scheme doesn't change. But who knows it's always a guess. People were saying for 15 years they were moving up to C5 and it never happened until the classification system was tinkered with.

I really think it's a two horse race. Webb, Carthage, and Repmo probably are the only other teams that can compete in the top half. Honestly, I really think 6-10 is just a total crap shoot. I'm giving Ozark the simply because I think their changes could produce some positive results on both sides of the football, and honestly those five teams are a hiccup apart at best. Long story short, there seems to be a significant divide between 1-5 and 6-10.

Webb may move down unless they reduce class 1. If that happens then Webb will stay class 5.

Webb is class 5 due to the peak of the school district population. The largest classes in history are going through but there are actually less kids in the district than a couple years back. The class sizes will fall off so they should drop in population. Webbs school district land size is the smallest in the area and are sandwiched between joplin carthage carl and jasper. There's room to build but that'll be some time to see that.
