We've had a few days to let it sink in. Does Kearney have what it takes coming back, to stay on top? Does Helias come back from their year off? Does Webb have the studs returning to get back to their old ways?

I keep wanting to see Platte County step up in NWMO C4 but last year leaves me believing it won't happen SO, barring any enrollment surprises, the usual suspects will be found duking it out for the title in 2016. This was a very senior heavy year in this class so it MAY (no promises) be more wide open...............

Since 2009, Kearney has not finished with a lower ranking than 4th in Class 4...so why think they would not be in the mix for quarters or semis again?

2009 #1 Class 4
2010 #2 Class 4 (14th overall)
2011 #4 Class 4 (21st overall)
2012 #19 Class 5 (54th overall)
2013 #2 Class 5 (#5 overall)
2014 #2 Class 4 (7th overall.)
2015 #1 Class 4 (4th overall)

Pretty consistent results...but you never know when you are going to have a Cale Garret? It always takes that core of 4-5 D1 level athletes (not saying football...but also baseball, basketball, that push you over the edge.) Unless you are the Webb machine..I'm sure they could win with no D1 level athletes.

WC has to replace a bunch of good seniors.. Most they have in quite a while and several were multiple year starters. With the coaches WC has it is certainly possible to make a run again but I would pump the brakes on expectations for next year until we see how some of the younger players develop. I didn't look at Kearney's roster and I know they lose several great players but unless they lose a whole lot I would think they would be the favorite coming back next year.

In SWMO I believe West Plains was very senior heavy. Carl Junction had seniors at key spots but also have Soph that will be a beast the next two years and a freshman was a key contributor so I think they will be good again.

I didn't check Harrisonville's roster but unless they are very senior heavy they will be a contender.

I did not have a good feeling about this years team at the beginning of the year. I still feel like the level of competition was down this year in the KC area. But I do believe it allowed the coaching staff to give the team confidence and make plays around what they had.

As for next year #1 concern will be QB.
#2 Defense as a whole.
#3 never underestimate what Coach Jones can get out of his players. I have learned my lesson. They will be ok. Just reload

My Too Early 2016
1. Kearney
2. Webb City
3. Carl Junction
4. Harrisonville
5. Cape Central
6. Westminster
7. Platte County
8. Hannibal
9. Helias
10. Bolivar

going to be an interesting year for Webb for sure. Seems like we say that every year and somehow they always put it together and make a run. I think honestly I would have to put webb somewhere from 5-10 , I watched JV and 9th a lot this year they are going to have to step it up to play at a high level IMO

As have I, I think as long as Coach Rod stays they will be in contention to get back to the dome, however, I believe CJ has the makings of a team ready to make a run.

I haven't heard a word either way. I guess Smitty will be leaving, we need to promote him to head coach and give him a raise and make JRod Director of football operations/0C or something. Coach Smith a great guy hate to see him move on

I think West Plains will still remain a top 10 team in Class 4 next year.
Now with that being said, they're going to have to replace their QB, #2 RB, and both big tight ends on offense as well as a few linemen.

Key Players returning:

#1 RB Hoopes- 1,400+ rushing with 22TDs

APB Holloway- 358 rec yds, 240 Rush yds and 7 TDs along with a kick return TD

big receiver coming back 6'4 Cornish- 270 yds and 4 TDs

Breakout players- Wheeler started CB all year as a sophomore and was a supplemental player not used much on offense. With graduation of the 2 TEs who totaled 750 rec yds together, he could see a lot of passes coming his way.

Osmun- coming back for his senior year, didn't get any playing time til late in the year (240 yds and 3 TDs), he could see a big role in 2016 with the graduation of WPs other 1,000+ yd RB Martin

If west plains gets the o line figured out for next year and the new QB can somewhat fill the big void left by Sam Hall, offense should be explosive once again.

Defensively:

Nichols, Safety- will return for his senior year and 3rd year starting as a DB, 87 tackles and 6 INTs as a junior

Wheeler, CB- will start his 2nd year as a junior after 58 tackles, 3 INTs and defensive TD as a sophomore

Smith, NG- will return for senior year as a 3 yr starter on DL. Recorded 40 tackles and 2 sacks as a junior.

WP also had a fresh/Soph that played most of the second half of the season at DE but can't remember his name.

The big ? mark for west plains is the graduation of all of the LBs. even a few of the back ups.

Not a chance... Harrisonville is way better than Kearney. Don't you read 810varsity?
C'mon, Joey. I watched the webcast of the Cats 45-7 loss to Webb...............I cannot imagine the Cards played better than in that game. That being said graduation is going to hit Harrisonville pretty hard just like Kearney and the aforementioned Webb City.

HAHA love the reverse english, O Line! Actually out of that group I'd like to see if year two for coach Smith at Pleasant Hill will be a winning one but that MRVC West is pretty loaded for bear!

I would too. Coach Smith is a great guy. He's in the West, but I do believe he will also play Richmond out of the East.

I think CJ graduates a lot from the offensive side of the ball but brings most of their defense back.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Center (10-1 this year) returns most of their starters and especially their skill kids. I don't think they are necessarily a state title contender, but they should be good enough to give some of the traditional powers a few problems.

They could potential be in the top 10 argument at 8-10

Why not, I realize WEBB loses a lot but with that they do every year at least every other and they were just there for six straight championships. I personally expect very good things. If not a return trip to the dome. I kind of think losing Smitty as defense Cordinator may fuel JROD. Sometimes type a personalities can still lose their edge. I think losing a great assistant coach can bring that edge back very strong. I expect John to do his best coaching ever and for the Cardinals to once again be Home in the Dome Thanksgiving weekend.
