Houston North Shore 23, Westlake 14 (gave NS a last play TD after I turned the feed off right after the game sealing INT). Extreme high quality game back and forth. North Shore's QB looks like he is major college ready today!

Isn't North Shore actually Galena Park ?

Carl Junction alumnus and former sports editor at Carthage, Neosho, St. Joseph and sports writer at various publications including Maryville and Kansas City Cody Thorn got a chance to cover several of the Texas High School State Football Championships since he now works in the newspaper business and lives in the Metroplex.

He shared this graphic with me late last night:

North Texas dominance overall! DeSoto and Duncanville are South Big D neighbors. Houston and Austin (where I have family) have lots of work to do!

Way cool!

@thetophat2021 ... Cody sent me pictures and video from the sidelines of the games (more than I can post here). I've been to one regular season game in Texas (2016 Tulsa Union at Southlake Carroll) but one of these days I need to attend the Texas state championship games just for the talent and atmosphere. Cody grabbed some extra programs and stat packets for me.

He sent this photo which is something I thought was a great idea and wish more states would do this, class specific state championship game t-shirts based on the teams participating. These look so nice, I want one and didn't even have a dog in the fight.

MSHSAA would charge $115 per shirt and get the spelling wrong.

Very cool agree! Featured another legendary program (Aledo) on that one. I also closely follow Oklahoma FB wonder why the Metro Tulsa vs. DDFW Metroplex games have basically dried up?

@thetophat2021 ... not sure myself. Was there in 2016 staying in Grapevine for a sports business convention. Friday night was an open night for the attendees to do whatever we wanted. Some of us always find a local sporting event to attend and were looking at a Texas Rangers game. When I looked at Rangers tickets and prices, I couldn't figure out why there was so many tickets at a cheap price available ... then I realized it was a Friday night in Texas (!!!) and realized it was week 1 in Texas. Did a quick search on the Dallas Morning News website and found the list of the top 10 games in the metroplex and realized the 9th best game was 2 1/2 miles from my hotel -- Tulsa Union at Southlake. It was a good game, atmosphere was everything I thought it would be. I had five other colleagues from Wisconsin join me and I think we ended up sitting in seats owned by a season ticket holder but nobody said anything.
Others from our convention ended up going to Allen, Texas that night to see the monster sized stadium and watching the No. 1 game in the metro that night, Allen vs. some nationally ranked team from Mississippi, wish I could remember who the opponent was.

2016 that had to be South Panola (Batesville). Very cool story you must have been staying near D/FW airport. On way to business meeting in Jackson MS stopped at that airport last October on a clear morning flew right over the Carroll stadium what a facility!
