Looks like you kids are in for a second half embarrassment.
Neshek pitches ahead of Kimbrel? Stupid. Dumbest manager
in baseball Neshek was in way over his head
while power arms sat in the bullpen.

Really can't blame Matheny for being loyal to his guys. If the Birds are lucky enough to make it to the World Series they will have nobody to blame but themselves for not having home field advantage.

It really just reinforces why WS home field being decided by the AS game may be the stupidest idea to ever come along in sports. Period....

Yeah, because the odd year/even year rotation was sooooooo much better.
It was much better than making a game that supposed to be just for fun count for something. Go by overall record or something. Anything but the results of what's supposed to be a fun, no pressure, exhibition game with players picked by fans. Home town guys always get special consideration whether they're the best players or not. Retiring guys always get special treatment. Waino and MM upheld that spirit even though it may cost them and the NL in the long run. I just think it's dumb. That's all.

Kershaw was going to win it anyways. Bigger market/Comparable stats/No-no/scoreless inning streak. Thats ok though, Waino would probably prefer his rings over Kershaw's Cy's. Maybe not though, idk

I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

Waino's mind was not right. You lose your competitive edge when you have the "pipe one to Jeter" mentality and that carried over into giving up three extra base hits in a row. I bet he regrets it.

I thought Waino had gotten over trying to be cute. I guess not.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

You surely don't really believe he intentionally "grooved one" for Jeter.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

Do you ever watch interviews? He said he did in plain English.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

You saw a different interview than I did. In the one with Erin Andrews in the dugout during the game he said he was joking and regrets that it was taken seriously by anyone, not that he really did grove one. No I do not generally watch post game BS.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

Dude was serious as a heart attack. He said it. Then later when he was taking some Twitter abuse he tried to backtrack to not make himself look bad. He sounded more like a Shelby miller than a veteran leader.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

You have your opinion, I have mine. Wainwright is as competitive as anybody in the game, I can't imagine he was serious about grooving a pitch for anybody, even in a game like that. You knows he would like to have home field if they can get to the WS.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

Hahahaha. Its not an opinion. Good grief dude.
Its been talked about all day on every sports radio and tv show in America.

Re: I dont think Gibby would have grooved Jeter.

He threw an 87mph Fastball...low and outside to Jeter

You really think that wasn't intentional? Are you also one of those I can find on twitter saying that Lucroy was tipping pitches to the AL to make Wainwright look bad? Quit being a freaking homer and just admit he made a complete mockery of himself when he opened his mouth and said he gave Jeter pitches to hit because he deserved it. I'd have more respect for him if he would have pegged him in the back first pitch

Which is why Kershaw should have started the game. Being loyal to your pitchers is an emotional decision, and not what should have taken place in a game that actually matters-whether you like that or not-it matters.

What a horrible showing by the Deadbird pitchers and manager.
