That first dunk was pretty special (also in slo-mo at the end). He was up there in the rarefied air.

Wow. That is Ricky Frazier dunking style. I saw him jam 7 in one game against Sikeston if I remember right, he could hop pretty well too.

Were Cookie Belcher, Tyron Lue and Marcus Belcher on this team?

Ty Lue would have been a senior on this team but was
inticed to move to KC. Marcus was a freshman in 95.
This state champ team built the new Mex-Plex 97..
C =|~

Cookie Belcher No.30 played for Nebraska
Jason Brookins 5-11 No.32
Kyle Hentage No.20
Jerrod Thompson No.10 played for Columbia College
Arron Angel No.22

I never get sick of seeing this. I saw this team play in Columbia against Borgia and then against Maryville. Completely awestruck at the leaping ability. 32's name is Jason Brookins, who played in the NFL for the Ravens at running back. Word had it that he had a 50 inch vertical. I see no reason to doubt that. He was listed 5'11"

Wow! 50 inches is two more than NC State great David Thompson! I remember when he got undercut on a dunk and landed on his head. I was afraid he was dead for a few seconds!

C_1 .... Yep, Jason Brookins was only 5-11...
Play high school ball ONLY his senior year and all-state
of course. I seen every game home & away that season and watched em get 10-12 unreal dunks per game. My personal favs were lil Jerrod Thompson taking it to the rim and dish off to Brookins for a thundering finish against much taller oponents.. Special times... C =}~

Exciting times for Mexico basketball. Mexico teams of that era enjoyed a nice following from other towns, too. I got a chance to see them play several times and remember good match-ups with Borgia and Charleston.

Jason Brookins was amazing in the way he could elevate. There were other excellent players, as noted above, and I can recall youngsters getting autographs from the Bulldog players after games. My son was in grade school when we loaded his friends in the van to go watch Mexico basketball. His favorite was Jarrod Thompson.

Great times!
