Just listened to a report detailing how and why Pfizer’s vaccine trial is running behind schedule and how it’s a promising thing
Apparently about 40,000 people are participating in the stage 3 clinical trial with half recieving the drug and the other half a placebo.
The problem is that even with the “second wave” not enough of the people are getting sick to be able to tell if there is a significant statistical difference between the two groups.
According to the guy from Pfizer there is a good chance that the vaccine is so effective that almost nobody who received it is getting sick,,,,and it’s going to take a few more weeks before enough people in the placebo group get sick so they have enough data to publish their results
It would seem to me that since this is phase3 they have determined it is safe,,,,,if they look at the data today and have zero people who got the drug got sick,,,,with 100 people who got the sugar pills getting sick then you start giving it to high risk individuals ASAP
