...at least Class 2 is (and I haven't even gotten to the opening kickoff yet!)...

...I'm sure I'll still buy the DVD for $25?!?!?:eek::eek:

Are you watching for free? I tried and couldn't figure it out. They were asking me to pay for a subscription

It should be free as of 3pm today (it becomes free 72 hours after the live broadcast...)

I'll say this; after getting a chance to watch this one again, I believe a lot of the un-called (and some called) Lamar false starts I and a few others saw were caused by late snaps (just a split second late) from the new Lamar center that took over after week 13...

...but I understand that before the week of the semis that new center had never snapped a ball (this according to the MAHSAA.tv announcers); good for him for hanging in there :D

Every T, Wing T, and Single Wing teams I see anymore false starts with their RBs on about every play. I don't blame them. Officials now just act like they don't see it. It hurt Maryville. I would imagine it didn't get called on them much this year. Until championship game officials actually enforced the rules.

If the broadcasts are as stellar as the basketball ones I've paid for the last couple of years, they're not worth paying a dime for.

Got my first good look at that "interception"/fumble that gave Trinity their last TD; that call was badly blown considering these are supposed to be some of the best officials...

...tipped and bobbled pass hits the ground and the call it a fumble??? (I guess everyone makes mistakes ;))

Ok, finished rewatching the game...

Watching the game live, I just thought Lamar played sloppy, putting the ball on the ground four or five times; after rewatching, though, a lot of that had to do with Trinity's defense. Their secondary (who made most of the tackles) were ball hawks! They tackled the ball, and tackled it HARD!

Another thing: Trinity's QB is a class act. He got absolutely blown up by Lamar's defense on several occasions, yet while a few of his teammates refused to shake hands with Lamar after the game, he was the first person in line shaking hands and hugging every Lamar player. I hear Trinity players don't always stick around, but I bet he does; and if he's back next year, Trinity will be back next year...

Also want to give a shout out to #66 of Trinity; yes, I still do think he was putting on a bit with the knee (you can't scream that much and still come back to play in the same game without putting on a bit), but boy when he did come back, they had him at nose and he was timing the snap perfectly, blowing up Lamar's center several times (causing a few bad snaps in the process that I had again originally and incorrectly attributed to Lamar just playing sloppy).

Not living in or being from Lamar myself, I really hope we see this rematch in next year's title game!

The video quality, the camera work (they totally missed Maryville's high snap live because they were showing a shot of the flags blowing in the wind), AND the announcers...

...I can understand those on here who have taken up for local high school announcers, but MSHSAA should be held to a higher standard ESPECIALLY if the are going to charge $25 for a DVD of the games and/or a $10 subscription fee to watch the games live (these broadcasts were barely a cut above most local braodcasts I've seen...)

Bought the one month pass to NFHS to see basketball as well as football.
To early for me to make a judgment one way or the other.

Will say though that after 20 years of going to the dome in perfect weather, this may be an alternative to setting outside in freezing rain???

I'll post back in a month or so with my feelings.

I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Bailey the last two days down at Tan Tara...class act and a great guy.

He spoke more highly of Trinity than most in this thread...perhaps just being polite...but he sure seemed to be genuinely impressed with their talent and the way they competed hard for the whole game.

First world problems!

What "World" problem is more pressing than High School Football?

I suppose next you will be telling us that the games have been delayed due to Thermal Nuclear War.
Ridiculous o_O

Did you even read the thread???

I dedicated a post to how wrong I realized I was about Trinity after watching the game a second time; ya certain players and fans derserve the criticism they're getting (refusing to shake hands after the game and screaming "dirty play!" and "get number 7!" after a perfectly clean pancake block to the chest by #50, not #7... it's all right their in the film...)

...but their QB is a class act, standing front and center after the game shaking hands and hugging every Lamar player, and even #66 who faked (yes faked) a catastrophic knee injury in the third (after being blocked in the chest) came back into the game in the fourth and absolutely tore it up! ...and likewise shook hands and full on bear hugged several Lamar players...

Like I said, I sincerely hope we see this rematch next year...

The problem is that thread whether you changed tune or not did nothing but bash Trinity. Damage done.

You are absolutely right in calling me out here...I was checking out MoSports on my tiny screen on my phone...and I replied to the wrong thread with my statements...that post should have been in one of the other threads were guys were attacking Trinity and giving them no credit.

I get it that Trinity had some issues with sportsmanship with some of their players and got beat by a more fundamental, better weight trained, and better executing Lamar team. LaMar has a GREAT PROGRAM and may great athletes in their own right... and they 100% deserved to win that game.

I also get that people question just how this team was put together and how so much talent came to be on one team seemingly out-of-the-blue...I don't have any answers for that question.

What I do know is that when I saw them play Lutheran North...I saw an unbelieveable amount of talent on a class 2 team...and when I talked to Coach Bailey he echoed those same beliefs...and he also gave them a lot of credit for "not quiting" when they got down but continuing to really compete and play hard.

He said that when he scouted Trinity...he couldn't believe how much talent, size, and speed they had...and that unlike some other very talented teams they have played in the past...they didn't quit when they got down but continued to compete and play extremely hard.

I have no dog in the fight here...but I do take issue when people insinuate that all their big lineme were just "all fat" and that all they had as a team was a lot of speed and no toughness or heart...because I don't think that is the case at all here.

Was their team put together in a legitimate fashion? I don't know. Will they all stay togther in the program and be back next season? No clue. What I do know is that they had had a hell of a team this year...and it took a great, GREAT Lamar team to beat them....that's all I am saying.

MUCH RESPECT for Coach Bailey for doing the right thing and suspending some good players (including his top two offensive centers) for this game. He said he was nervous as hell about asking a kid who had never snapped a ball to have to do that in the Championship game vs. super talented NG like #66...but some how it all worked out.

PROPS TOO for Trinity still keeping the game fairly close without their top two runningbacks (the #1 guy hurt vs. Lutheran North...and the #2 guy hurt in the second half of the Lawson game).

Despite both teams missing some good players for the Championship game...I still think you could make an argument that two more talented teams have never faced off against each before in a Class 2 Championship...would have LOVED to have seen that game.

Exactly ... it was sooooooo horrible to lay on my couch in my heated living room and watch all 5 weekend state title games for $10. Just horrible. I will never do it again ... at least not until next November.
