The most talent in the state in recent memory and they're all headed to California, Ohio, Oklahoma, Iowa to play their college ball.

Meanwhile the rest of the SEC is killing it.

The Mizzou fans don't get it that a lot of people in Missouri really aren't Mizzou fans... because they might have gone to:

sw Missouri State
Central Missouri
UMSL
UMKC
Truman St.
NW Missouri (which has a huge football base, and many of their fans are oblivious to Mizzou and don't care that much about D1 in general.)
William Jewell
SEMO
Rolla
Drury
etc...

I care more about how swMissouri State, Central and NW Missouri end up, than Mizzou. And swMissouri State is killing me...can they bring back Jesse Branch?

I don't understand, all these states surrounding us Like Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Kentucky, & Arkansas can field two FBS teams. But maybe that tells you something about football in Missouri. We have perennial middle of the pack to just Gawd awful pro teams. Then alot of never was small college football programs. But Missouri cannot have one good FBS programs little alone two gawd awful ones. Missouri State would be better off just to quit playing football all together, put that money to better use.

It is sad that more Missouri kids dont dream of playing at our state schools. Makes you appreciate the Locks of the world.

Kansas? Ranked 129 out of 130 FBS schools. Kansas state usually does snag a lot of the best Missouri talent though on the Kansas City Missouri side

Totally agree and really don't understand it. And really for the last decade Mizzou has not been bad you would think they would be creating more fans from the little guys and reaping those benefits.

But down here in SWMO almost everybody is a hog fan cannot stand it, hate the hogs.

When My Daughter was playing softball we went to KC tournaments, and I will say it seems that everywhere I looked there was a Missouri license plate with a J-hawk or K-state bumper sticker. But I have to also say out of all the scholarship offers my daughter got she got one from Missouri and 18 from Kansas schools.

I can't stand it either. But from here, the hogs are only 2 hours away, while MU is almost twice that. KU, KSU, OU, and OSU are basically as close as MU is, which I think is why the fan base here is so split.

if the few d1 kids missouri puts out get blueblood offers, they usually go there. luckily theres enough talent in texas and the sec states to accommodate our roster. plus its better football and players by comparison.

Why does it matter how close another state school is to a particular town IN Missourah? If that town is IN Missourah, then you are a Missourian!

We need more True Sons and Daughters heading to CoMo.
If Missouri teams were better, more Missouri kids would want to go there. If you get a legit offer from another power 5 school, you're probably not going to Missouriocrity.

I understand what you are saying but it seems and just going by around here, more people even feel like Arkansas is a better football school than Mizzou well in all sports, why is that? Mizzou has beaten Arkansas two years in a row. Just seems so strange.

I have fond memories of the 2008 Cotton Bowl, as well.

The 72nd Cotton Bowl Classic featured two Heisman Trophy candidates, Darren McFadden (playing for Arkansas) and Chase Daniel (playing for Missouri).[4] McFadden finished second in the voting, while Daniel was fourth

thats just the lower portion of the state, mainly swmo mo or the joplin area. its only an hour away from nwa. get up to springfield and up to kc or mid mo and nobody cares about arky. miz is 4 hours away from joplin so therefore people dont feel the association with that university. coupled with mo being more of a pro sports state and the miz program not being a traditional powerhouse.
