Class 5-- Championship Game------St. Louis Chaminade--26-5-----------Springfield Kickapoo 29-2

Strength of schedule favors Chaminade over Springfield Kickapoo. The crowd in Columbia will favor the Kickapoo Chiefs.

Chaminade's 5 loses
1. Sierra Canyon, CA-----66-58
2. High Point Christian ---63-61
3. St. Patrick's--------------52-49
4. DeMatha, ----------------72-69
5. Oak Hill-------------------69-62

Chaminade has not lost to a Missouri this season.
Springfield Kickapoo has not lost to a Missouri team this year.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Class 4 semi-finals

St. Louis Vashon--24-4---------------SEMO Sikeston 28-1

St. Louis Vashon coached by Tony Irons

Strength of schedule favors Vashon but the crowd in the final four favors the Sikeston Bulldogs.

St. Louis Vashon's 4 loses: ( 15 game winning streak )-------------------Big Wins:

1. Chicago Morgan Park-----------80-43---------------------------1. Columbia Father Tolton-----
2. Chicago Kenwood---------------58-48----------------------------2. St. Louis CBC----------------
3. Vianney--( With C. Gordon )---54-46----------------------------3. Riverview---------------------
4. Hazelwood Central--------------73-71----------------------------4. St. Mary's
------------------------------------------------------------------------------5. St. Louis Christian
------------------------------------------------------------------------------6. Miller Career

SEMO Sikeston----coached by Greg Hoilfield

Big Wins:---------------------------------------------------Loses

1.St. Louis Zumwalt South-------------------------Cape Central
2. SEMO Cape Central--------
3. SEMO Jackson---------------
4. Carbondale, Il-----------------
5. St. Louis Parkway West----

Won two St. Louis area tournaments--Have not had a close game since districts. The Sikeston Bulldogs will have the largest following in the class 4 final four.

Question for the MoSports posters.

Which is more important?

1. Strength of the schedule
or
2. Big fan base @ the championship games

metro...I know you and others put a lot of emphasis on strength of schedule. However, I tend to disagree. I am only speaking for Sikeston now... Every year we are bashed for our "weak schedule." We beat a bunch of good teams this year. We could have scheduled the Warriors and it wouldn't have helped us beat Vashon last night. In the same respect, in 2011, we could have played Duke 3 times and we would have STILL won state.

I do agree, however, that Sikeston can't play a bunch of cupcake games....but that's not what we do. We play in the SEMO Conference and it is a TOUGH confer nice from top to bottom. I think that prepares us as much as anything. We have now added 2 St Louis tournaments and that still isn't good enough to most detractors. We have a hall of fame coach...I'll defer to him for our scheduling. I think he's earned that...

I believe a large crowd does help teams. Our town certainly shows up. As far as which one is more important....I think it's a toss up.

Your correct Rocket and that game could have gone either way Vashon was just up when the clock ran out , 2 very good teams congratulations to them

Train, the Sikeston Bulldogs competed very well. Vashon has a big young team and a Jr. point guard that runs the show. The Woverines had a couple of players that were granted eligibility the second semester. Gilbert Korray 6'4" Junior was one of these players. Gilbert Korray had a big big game ( 5-7 from 3 point ) and 17 points.

Fred Thatch started the game very well but was 5-14 from the field. Fred did not take a shot the first 4 minutes of the all important third quarter as Vashon added to their lead. Vashon will for certain be back in Columbia next season to defend their 2016 class 4 state championship. ( Providing they defeat underdog Lafayette St. Joes tonight.

Vashon is a run away train and should and most likely will win many class 4 championships in the next decade. Vashon has a big advantage when enrolling students. The way I understand it, students can enroll @ Vashon ( If they have room ) and live anywhere in the city of St. Louis if the high school principal signs off on having room. I'm betting that he will. ( That puts every class 4 high school in Missouri to a disadvantage ) The only one who can stop Vashon in class 4 is St. Mary's coached by my friend Kelvin Lee. Nobody can enroll the top players in St. Louis like Kelvin Lee not even Vashon.

You could say that's not fair but the rules say it is. Class 1 or 2 Scott County Central has been enrolling students from Sikeston for years ( Winning State Championships ) and I have not heard anyone from the Sikeston area complain about it. Just think of all the little high schools ( Under 100 students ) across Missouri who missed out on their opportunity.

The difference with Vashon and SCC....SCC isn't allowed to do it...Vashon is. Ask David Heeb... They just get away with it...

Ask David Heeb? He was 'accused' of recruiting as much as SCC has been. I have to assume NO ONE ever had proof or something could have been done about it.

Uhhhhh....he was suspended for one year from coaching at SCC. At least I think it was a year

It wasn't a year, but the biggest part of one...

Rocket and others, it was posted on ( semo.com ) that 2-3 Sikeston kids enrolled @ Scott County Central this year without moving to the SCC district this year. The principal or AD @ SCC should be checking this out since schools are suppose to monitor themselves @ the time of enrollment. One key " move in " can change a district winner in a class 1 district ( Class 1 enrollment 100 students ). To me this is not fair play. It is not fair but legal that Vashon can enroll students " Outside their assigned area " if they have the space.

The Sikeston posters should not call Vashon high school---Vashon Community College or Vashon State with Sikeston students enrolling @ Scott County Central and not moving.

I enjoy attending the class 1, 2 and 3 state tournament. I am so happy when I visit with some of the fans from our small schools who lost in district with kids who have played together since 4th grade. They tell me. ' We almost won districts " but lost by one point but we will be back next year. They sometimes tell me," We have a good 8th grader " coming that will be special. I sometimes want to cry but quickly get over it and move on.

Metro...I know one of the kids moved there because his dad took a job at SCC...he's legal. I can't speak for the others as I'm not sure.

Thanks Rock, One of my friends who lives in Sikeston stated they did not move and played this year @ SCC. He does not think this is the way to do business but will not make a report to the MSHSAA.

Agreed. It isn't a way to do business...
