Tri-County Conference Expansion

This is a hard pool of candidates to choose from. Almost all of them are package deals due to rivalries or have some other baggage. I know that they are most likely looking for schools with soccer, which only Osage and Southern Boone have, and/or wrestling, which everyone has except California. Here's my thoughts on (what I think is) the pool of candidates:

Centralia -- Doubtful to leave the CCC and all of their tradition and rivalries in that conference. They would lose their annual games with Macon, Brookfield, etc. They would also make the Tri-County even more top-heavy than it already is. But they would bring a strong wrestling tradition to the table and present a decent geographic fit.

Boonville -- I personally think that this is the smoothest fit. I am ignorant to any traditional rivalries that Boonville has or is really invested in. They'll help even things out in the Tri-County by adding a soccer program, and bolster the Tri-County wrestling. Most of the Tri-County schools have already had some recent history with them in football (Eldon, California, Blair Oaks) so they bring some familiarity to the table. Their longest drive is also only 1:21, much better in comparison to Warsaw's drives.

North Callaway & South Callaway -- Another familiar foe for Tri-County schools. SBC and Hallsville shared a rivalry with them in the Mid-Missouri Conference for many years. They have some football history, along with a wrestling program. With some of the decreasing enrollments, they can even the balance of Class 2/Class 3 teams. But the thing is that both Callaways are a package deal. Do we want 9 members in the conference? Not to mention this could be unrealistic given that they've just joined the EMO conference.

Fulton -- Another Class 3 school added with a good athletic reputation. Even though they'd make the TCC more difficult than it already is, they would make the conference look better in all sports than Warsaw. It is a geographic home run, with only two trips that would last barely over an hour. They've got wrestling, too. But the downside is that they would risk losing a rivalry with Mexico. Of course they can keep them as a non-con, but is that something that they can do or want to do every year?

All in all, I think Boonville is the best fit right now.

Up to a couple of years ago, I would have said there's no way Centralia leaves the CCC. Since that time, Mark Twain has left, and South Shelby and Monroe City flirted with the Lewis and Clark. Don't have a clue what the problem(s) are/were, but I wouldn't count them out based upon past tradition alone.

They would be a HUGE loss. Hope it never happens.

I am willing to bet North and South Callaway are the most likely options. EMO is a fairly weak conference and both have long travel logs.

9 conference teams seems like the perfect number. Schedules are practically set up with one non con game.

Only problem is you have an open date every week and some schools non-conference wise it would be hard to find games on those dates. It's almost easier just to go to 10 schools and play entire conference schedule.

If North and South Callaway leave (or one of them leaves) for the Tri County, how likely is it that Louisiana leaves the CCC for the EMO?

Adding to the Tri County would be a good thing with the loss of Warsaw. Boonville, North Callaway & South Callaway would all be good additions. I can't see adding all three, Boonvillle just joined the NCMC a few years ago.

Honestly they should. They haven't been good for a while and the bottom half of the CCC is still tougher than the bottom of the EMO.

Centralia is very good in all sports! They have excellent wrestling and they don't have soccer! All are bonuses.
